Note the mirror set in the wardrobe on the left. I now know why she goes to this end of the room. :)

Chris,

She looks sooooo sweet, looking at herself in the mirror. If she is as "out in the open" like this right now, she will be fine! Now, we need to get the pup familiar with her!

I love the photos, keep them coming!

She looks a lot like my Abby, except Abby is a little uh...plumper, and has green eyes. Abby gets that same 'stern' look on her dface like your first picture.

The looks on her face are just halarious. She reminds me of my late Gideon, a female short haired black feline. :(

Thanks so much...I just love my cat!:) However the feeling is not returned, not yet anyway, would you believe I have not stroked her yet! :( (except for when I met her in the shelter).
Up to now this is how its been; she seems to stay under the sofabed all day (she is eating and using the litter tray) and then come late afternoon/evening she will come out, eat some of her evening meal, then go hide on the sill behind the curtains, coming out for a little while then going back into hiding. Tonight was the first time she has sat up where she was photographed and stayed while I was in the room, when I took the pictures and just now when I stayed a while and read a book, so I guess that is progress.
Yes, I know I have to be patient with her, I am, and am prepared for a long haul....something I wasn`t prepared for was how very happy even the tiniest bit of progress makes me! :)
There will be more pictures and an update when I have them.

Those are beautiful photos of Ebony admiring herself in the mirror.:)
Have you tried getting her closer to you by using some tuna as a treat or a mouse on a string to play with at a safe distance?
Something tempting may get her closer to you quicker.;)

Okay, now I know I am crazy! It is nearlyy 35 minutes after midnight, I am sooo tired, yet here I am posting on Pet Talk and why? I just been stroking Ebby!!:D :D I go in there to say goodnight and she seemed interested so I gave her a treat, well more than one lol, and was able to stroke her a little. She went to her hidyhole so I turned out the light and made my escape, else I would have stayed all night!:)

Thats all folks! Goodnight!

Chris

Thanks Vermontcat, I just saw your post. You`re right that sort of thing does work. lol.

Chris - I think if you meet Ebby's basic needs, i.e. treats, toys and good food....she will be fine and will relax around you. Isn't that about the same for men? Hehehehehehe! Oh, I forgot one thing....but this is a FAMILY site.

;) :o ;)

Great photos: she has a small tuxedo shirt spot doesn't she?
So beautiful.
It's great to hear that your patience pays out. How long do you have her now? A week or so. Regarding that she' s making a good progress!

Chris the pics of Ebony are great and such a great name for her. i used to have a bunny called Ebony but she died earlier this year at only 6 months old. She was mostly white though. Anyway such great pics, is she your cat?

Wow, she's so beautiful, and so lucky to have a loving, patient momma like you! I went through this when I inherited my boy kitty; he took a while to warm up to his new family, but it was worth the wait, to be sure! {{{Hugs}}} to you both!

Chris,
Ebby is such a pretty girl! And from what you've said, it sounds like she's well on her way to loving you and getting settled into her forever home. That's great news!

She is such a cutie...and I love how she is attracted to mirrors. Too cute! :)

Thanks everyone :)
She stayed out of her hidey hole this morning so I was able to get some more pics, (one is in my sig and I plan to post the 4 others in a new thread later), and some more purrs.
When I went back to sit with her this afternoon she was back in her hidyhole, I sat in there doing puzzles and trying to tempt her out every now and again but she stayed put. After about an hour I thought that as she was staying there I would bring Bob up to see her, on the leash of course. Brought Bob in but he didn`t even see her in her hiding place, didn`t smell her out either, call himself a retriever! lol. Maybe it is just as well, at least Ebby saw him and knows there is a big hairy monster lurking about! Don`t think shes very pleased with me though, when I took her the meaty meal she did come out for it but moved away when I went to her, "Traitor" she said. lol :)

Heather, yes she is mine, I got her from the Cat Protection shelter here in Wrexham last Wednesday.
