We are temporarily disabling registration for Pet Talk as we are getting bombarded with spammers at the moment. If you know someone who wants to register, or if you are a visitor want to register, you can email me and I can set up an account for you manually.

You can email me at Karen-then the at sign-PetoftheDay.com okay?

How annoying. :( Is it a school holiday, or what?

No, I think it is all just a group of spammers from a certain part of the world who target one site after another - when word gets out, they will all go to a site, sadly.

We had to temporarily disable registration again, the spammers are still trying to target us! If any new members want to register, email me, and I'll manually create an account for you, okay?

There were over a million registration attempts again today, so we turned it off for a while. Again, anyone who wants to register can email me, an I will manually create an account for you!

I get so disgusted with these people who seem to have so much time on their hands, they work hard at creating things like that that don't even make them a lot of money or anything, just cause a lot of annoyance and delays with other people's work.

They are doing it to make money. There are companies out there who pay people to post, probably a few cents per post if that, advertising whatever is trendy at the moment - certain pharmaceuticals, designer clothes, videos - whatever. They must be making money doing it, otherwise it wouldn't exist, sadly.

I am not excusing them, by any means, there are millions of websites out there, and most of them likely do not speak English to realize this is a pet site, and cats are not interested in purchasing designer sportswear, or anything!

Oh, well, that's too bad.. Was Pet Talk getting bombarded with ads?

Still, people with time on their hands and nothing constructive to use it for..

It was busy with stuff before that step.

I have no idea what other job opportunities are available wherever these people are!

I know it's a pain in the behind, but you might want to install Captcha or another Turing test to verify that a registrant is a real person and not a 'bot.
