Well, I am not falling over any cliff, fiscal or otherwise....;)

It's been a strange year, filled with ups and downs - glad to see it go, but not as much as any other year.

So, Let's break out the bubbly and tip a glass to the last few days of 2012...

DONE!

Funny you should mention that....just about to go out and get a few bottles of wine.

Should I get a few of my favorites to stock the bar with?

Only if you're willing to share ...

Meanwhile, after a day on rain has dwindled down to drizzly and cool, I'm gonna get a kettle on, especially as I know many of us have been dealing with snow instead. Hot cocoa anyone? Or nice hot chai?

My neighbor brought us down some brownies, I'll share those with anyone who wants one!

Alwaysa willing to share. In the meantime I'll get a brie pastry going in the oven (I'll even share my Christmas present!)

I found some sparkling cherry and apple juice to go with our spread.......

It's been a cold miserable day here. Some hot chocolate with tons of mallows would be lovely. Any Christmas cookies left?

OK-family events done, cleanup continuing, three day work week under the belt.

Glass of Cab with some truffles anyone? Plenty to share!

Karen

I'll have a truffle! And some hot cocoa with cinnamon added in!

On a happy note, in real life my food adventures continue. I worked up my courage and ate a whole (yummy) red pepper yesterday - and had no repercussions whatsoever! Whoo hoo! Something new to cross off the list!

Lucky you - you can eat more and I can eat less. Several years ago I had a bad reaction after eating a shrimp and crab cake - I broke out into one big itch, but thankfully no breathing issues, and it took a handful of Benadryl to calm it down. Figured I was now allergic to shellfish, and hadn't been brave enough to try again to see if I had another reaction. Until Christmas, that is. We had a buffet dinner this year, and one of things I served was a cold shrimp platter. I ate a few and no reaction - woo-hoo! I ate a few more over the course of the next few days and still no reaction, so last night I decided to finish up what was left - about a dozen of them. BAD MOVE! Within minutes I was one big itch again, and even broke out into a few hives! Thank goodness for Benadryl - and this time I learned my lesson! As much as I love shellfish, I guess they are banned from my diet forever!

Anyone care to join me for a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup? It's a cold, wet and dreary day and I need some comfort food!

Karen

As I cannot eat fish por shrimp, I have not dared try any other shellfish lately, that was brave of you!

Grilled cheese sounds marvelous, I'll join you in some!

zTell you what, Pomtzu - just had a marvelously yummy grilled cheese - apple butter (courtesy of Lady's Human) and sharp cheddar on some sourdough bread. I have more of everything, so if anyone wants some, let me know!

That sounds yummy, Karen - count me in!

Even tho it's cold, I'm craving a cold drink. I have a pitcher of raspberry green tea in the fridge to share if anyone would like some. :D

I'll take you up on that tea, please. We're having a chinook so no need for hot tea today.

With the snow - Hot cocoa sounds the best!!! And little Nutmeg will have some egg nog, if any is left, with, of course, a little nutmeg!! Still some fruitcake to offer.....

Stay warm and dry, everyone!!!

I've got a fresh pot of chili for this evening. I'd have a cup of tea if the water is still hot.

I am so ready to wash this year out of my hair!!! Of course a year ending in 13 might not be that fantastic either. :D

Going to watch the ball drop in New York on tv tonight. I figure if New York makes it to midnight, Kansas probably will too. Got some creme soda in the fridge to toast the new year in.
HAPPY NEW YEAR YA ALL!!!

Let the party begin! I'm all decked out in my party clothes - fuzzy lounge pants, sweatshirt, and slippers that look like Eskimo boots. Had my gourmet dinner of fish sticks (which I shared with my best girl, Myndi), crackers with hot pepper jelly (which I DIDN'T share with Myndi), and washed it down with a Pepsi. Soon my date (Myndi - who else???) and I will head to bed and watch t.v. and will probably be asleep long before the ball drops in The Big Apple. Yes - I'm quite the party animal.

Happy New Year everyone. Talk to you next year. :p

I think I have to pour for KK first!

I think it's already '13 over the pond.

----------------------

I'll make some cornbread w/jalapenos and cheese.......

Shall we do a rendition or "Old Ang-xiety"?;) (goodbye to the old anxiety of 2012...)

Happy New Year to everyone!

It's from Animal Crackers, an old cartoon. If you sing it, it sounds just like the original words.

Oh - now I get it. I hope you know that the song is now stuck in my head. :(

However, I don't remember that cartoon. I must have been either too young or too old. And no comments please on which one that it probably is.........

The fire's going, got my book, music's on, time to relax a touch.

And I forgot: Gingerbread men, complete with the requisite gingerbread chicken!

Okay, I'll have a star-shaped one, okay? ;)

LH, eldest niece got a huge kick out of the duck-shaped cookie cutters (large and small) that I slipped into her Christmas present! She laughed so hard and exclaimed "Yay! barnyard fowl for me!!!!!" which of course confused her boyfriend, as he is new to the whole gingerbread chicken phenomenon!
