Yup! I've never really been to a chat room cause I know they are disgusting and full of sick people, but I do go to a few forums only when I have a question about something or need help. Pet Talk is the ONLY board that I actually stayed on. Karen and Paul do a great job moderating it, and I think its the best board on the web. :)

I fully agree, Pet talk is the BEST! :D I've had a look at a few others, but they're no way near. It's the first and only board I've joined! If I were to join others it would be travel or computer stuff - but I don't have the time!

Agreed from Ritzy's mom.....so much else on the internet is an absolute waste of technology and time, this place is the greatest - fun, kind, informative, intelligent, relaxing. I've always liked that all ages, nationalities, walks of life, gender have such a great community here!

For sure. A community is built by the people in it, so thanks to all those who built the site, post snippets of their lives and listen to everyone else on the board. :) I feel privileged to have met such great people and their pets.

This is the first place I came across, and it never even occured to me to go looking for others. You can't top what you already have, when you already have the BEST!!!
I LOVE this place, and of course that means the people!!!!!!

this board has made me want to look for others, not other pet boards, (of course!) but boards for other topics, though alot of time I end up posting other topics on here, not sure if Im really suposed to:confused:
before I found this board, I hadn't really thought of joining message boards. if I joined another one, it would be about news topics, and it would be second to this one. there is a similar one to this one, but it will never be pettalk, there is only one pettalk.
I just had to say it one more time LOL.

Heck yeah, post about anything you want - that's why Karen and Paul added the "General" forum, so you could post anything that came to mind that wasn't directly about pets. :D (That seems to be where our most "spirited" conversations come from:rolleyes: :o )

Yeah, Pet Talk is good, but there's other boards that are good too. Besides Pet Talk, I'm also member on a cat site, on a Finnish forum which has various sections, and of course, now we have our own forum. Many of you will be happy that I don't have so much time to come here anymore.:)

I copied Pet Talk? Excuse me! We have all Cat forum. Besides, Karen and Paul do not own the copyright to be the only people in the world to have forums. I'm not trying to convince you or anyone else about our forum, if someone decides to join, I'm glad, but I'm not loosing my sleep if you don't.

I thought your site's format looked alot like the cat section of this site, but I guess that was not your intention. I don't know why you left, and I'm not glad you did, I didn't have a problem with you, I just don't know why you advertise on pettalk?

If you surf around and look for message boards and the software they use, at then end, they look a lot alike.
We haven't copied anyone with our forum, we can't help it that there's no other way of putting the words around like a section called Cat health or rescue. Naturally we have to use the same words. But it doesn't mean we are copying them. All thecat boards I've come across, have the same sections, not just ours. I welcome you to have a look of our forum too, but I guess you have made up your mind about it already. And, I'm not the only pettalker who has a forum, just so you know.

If my thread was inappropriate, I'm sure Karen or Paul will delete it then, right?

Happy holidays to you too! And, I don't have anything against you either, when you first posted a pic about Patches, I fell in love, he just is so adorable. I hope everything is fine with him and the rest of your furries. :)

thank you! I hope the same for you. Patches is fat now, and I put him on a diet, seems to be working.the others are okay(dare I say it?) except Callie, and her eyes are getting better, so far.

Good luck with the diet, Casper's doesn't seem to work...:( might be my fault though :rolleyes: Here's hoping that Callies eyes get better soon.

Hey Casper & Kitty, I also LOVE your new board..just haven't been there much yet,,,but you wait, Ritzy has me going through finger exercises so I can get "limbered up" for our visits to the Cat's Palace!

It's a really cool site! If you haven't visited it yet, it's all wonderful, including the links to Casper and Kitty's page if you ever get withdrawal or don't see enough of their adorable faces here! It's also very fast from what I saw so far....they did a marvelous job on this site!

And I have been researching bulletin board and message board sites too for my business website (thanks to some helpful hints from Patrick, Niina and even Randi) and they DO all look alike in many ways. :cool:

I say, the more the merrier! I wish some of the big name technology companies out there would do as good a job with their tech forums as Pettalk and Cat's Palace

This is something very true:
I admire you Karen and Paul to run such a wonderful functional website: With several hundred thousands of messages, so many pix, no commercials.
I recommend your site to my colleagues from the electronic business (I am working in a company that does print and electronic publishing) to show how good, easy and well designed a forum can be!

Uhh... I've been PM'ed (Not by C&K) asking if I meant an insult to C&K by this post. No, I meant this to be supportive but humorous. Sorry if I worded it poorly or ambiguously -- C&K (and N&P ;) ) are dear to me; sometimes I don't use words as well as I'd like. I rejoice in Pet Talk and the residents/ citizens/ Pillars here. I'm impressed with C&K's Cat Palace and have joined there, too. (May not be able to post as much as I'd like due to some other commitments... :rolleyes: but it's not because I'm angry or trying to dis anyone.)

Sorry for any confusion.

Oh lordy me, if I find ANOTHER pet board as nice as this one to post on, I'll NEVER get any work done!!!! :eek: :p But, I gotta check out the Casper and Kitty site just once.......

AmberLee, I know what you mean about "not using words well" - I sometimes come across as something other than I am, and can't find the right "smiley" to express it. I knew right away that you meant it as a compliment, that you would genuinely miss seeing Casper and Kitty as often (as I would too!) So I guess I'll stop by their site more often to get my "fix".

The blessing of the Internet is communication via the written word. This is also its bane. Other than "emoticons" there are no other cues. With this in mind, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt!:)

As far as talk sites go and Pet Talk in particular, this is the most civil site I've experienced. I have seen some sites degenerate into flame wars and troll attacks. I don't know how Karen and Paul do it, but this is a "no troll zone!":D :D :D

I also belong to a forum about Hettie washers and dryers. I know, how darn exciting. Anyway, believe it or not, the folks there can get down right nasty with each other about comparing washers and dryers. It is a riot. I don't post there that often, just mostly lurk to find out what I can about the particular machines!

I do love Pet Talk folks.

Hmm - I checked it out, and a "hettie" is a new type of front-loading or top-loading high efficiency washer (HE3T, nicknamed "Hettie"). It also costs more than I make in a month (LOL), so I don't think I'll be lurking around that board! (I probably couldn't take the excitement anyway - I'd end up "flaming" somebody about their laundry habits;) )

It's a great forum and I check the forum every working day (I don't have Internet at home, unfortunately on one side, and fortunately on the other side, otherwise I would keep busy the pc at home, which is supposed to be used only for programming. OK, OK, I know, the pc at the office should be used for other activities too :D). Every Monday I check what I've missed.
PetTalk it's a great place and I always wandered how many people from so many countries get together here and discuss everything about their pets, brag with them, mourn lost friends. I almost feel like most of these creatures are a little mine too and I am so happy for being able to share my experience with others that feel the same.
