Urine Specium

Now I'm telling you that was an adventure at 7:35 a.m. this morning. My vet wanted "first of morning" urine specimen from Gretchen. I did it on the first attempt!!! Carried her out to spot where she pees/poops set her down put cup under her butt. The look she gave me was priceless :D Then I stepped back a few inches and she squatted and cup went under her praying it would be filled.

Gretchen has had trouble the last week with pee accidents in house. She can go all night without accidents hold it till 8 a.m.
My vet wanted a specimen to send to the lab (results in 4 days) to see if she has UTI.

Its been one crazy week with the furry kids~

Oh boy. Prayers that it's something easily treatable. Gretchen, sweety, I wonder what's making you have accidents. (((HUGS)))

I know that look! They sure do think we humans are nuts -- they MUST! We take them for walkies and steal their poops, we get them to pee in a cup, ha ha haaa.

Paws crossed you find out the problem and it is something easy to fix, like a UTI.

This brings back old memories! Years ago I had 2 Lhasas that were diabetic - one male and one female - and I had to test their urine at least once each day. The female was no problem. I would just walk along with her, and when she decided to squat I would just slip the container (I used about a 3x5 inch plastic container) under her, and mission accomplished. The male was not so easy and was quite stubborn, and it took him a while to get used to me following him around until he decided to lift that leg. I think it made him paranoid that I followed him, and he would have preferred his privacy in such matters. Eventually he gave up and tolerated me invading his space! :D

The results are in and everything looks great. She did have slightly elevated wbc so she is on antibiotic for 10 days, I was given option yes/no on medication. I went with instinct that peeing issues were medical and not puppy potty training failure. I chuckled when the vet (new partner) told me she was having potty training trouble with her puppy. I'm not alone!
