It's time to change those pesky clocks backwards, to gain that lost hour of sleep we so desperately need.

It's also time -This would make Phred pleased as punch- to check the batteries on your smoke alarms, CO2 detectors and pretty much any other battery powered device you may need in an emergency.

I am making a command decision and sending the Orc into the L&F to get the batteries....I don't want to miss the pulled pork I made from a Boston pork butt - insert your jokes here.......

Done?

My smoke detector automatically gets checked every fall when I turn my propane fireplace on for the first time. Something about turning it on after it has set all summer, I guess it is the dust that gets in there that cannot be vacuumed out causes some sort of chemical reaction?

I have an upset stomach right now. Might be because I peeled my banana the wrong way. I'll have some lime seltzer water.

I fell back, but Myndi didn't. Her internal alarm didn't automatically reset and we've been up for over an hour already. :(

How was your butt, Richard?? :p I'm tossing pork chops with some molasses, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, onion and garlic in the crock pot to cook all day, so they will probably fall apart on their own - no pulling required.

Coffee anyone?

Yes, coffee, please...

No, Pinot's internal alarm has not reset, either.

Richard, the pork butt sounds good, but I'll have it later. Just coffee, please, in copious amounts.

One lime seltzer. Sorry to hear about your stomach.....

I always freak out when the dust gets burnt the first time around....

DONE!

Pom,

I wish my butt was a little bigger, my pants sag horribly?

I cooked it for about 14 hours and then made a ketchup, vinegar, tomato sauce and served it on Kaiser rolls with cole slaw!

Pork chops in the crock pot remind me of mom.......want to adopt me?

I'll pour if you brew?

DONE!

PM,
Mas cafe! Mucho mas cafe!

Cali didn't get the time change memo either. She was some ticked when I told her to go back to bed for an hour when she woke me at 2 am. 45 minutes later I relented, fed her and when back to bed. Brat!

We're having a few nice weather days, most of the snow has melted. Expecting another dump for Friday. At least we're out of the fog.

Putting on a pot of tea, Earl Grey, double bergamot. Anyone? Is fabulous with vanilla almond milk.

I was appealing to your "mom instinct", age had nothing to do with it.

I always wanted a nice big sister, so this will work.

I'll do some tea.....We were sitting her watching the Weather Channel and were in shock that there was snow on the ground, isn't the global, warming?

Sounds delightful, I'll try some! No almond milk for me, though, just a bit of sugar, maybe!

Since there will be a lot of hot air everywhere in the states today , I thought I'd add my share in the form of a crockpot full of hot chili. And I do mean HOT! I went a wee bit heavy on the chili peppers. Please feel free to join me later in a nice big bowl full, and cornbread on the side! Cold here today with a heavy frost, so it will be a nice belly warmer tho.
Can someone send Orc in search of a fire extinguisher?????

Happy Election Day, and may the "best" man win. :p

I'll send the ORC in search of one.

Hot Chili...I hope it has beans in it......later we can sit down and 'shoot the breeze' just like real politicians!

How's about a morning smoothe?

I think banana and pineapple are good. Or some apple juice and a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Of course it has beans - and lots of them. Chili just isn't chili without them - IMO. Glad you got my meaning of "hot air" - I think it would go right of the head of a lot of folks. :p

Pineapple and banana smoothie??? - count me in - for a double please.

And before anyone else has the chance, let me wish my baby bro a big:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

If there's still chili available, I'll take a bowl, with a beer to wash it down with and get the taste of voting out of my mouth.

Ummmm........someone wanna tell the Orc that we meant fire extinguisher.......as in a little hand held one? There's an airport foam truck pulled up outside......

Pom, That chili and cornbread sounds GOOD to me! It's a chilly (no pun intended) day down here in NC. Some hot chili would hit the spot and when I make it, I also bake cornbread--sounds like a Southern meal to me :)

LH and Kay - help yourselves. There's plenty to go around.

Believe it or not, I never had chili or fried chicken until I was married and moved away from home. I grew up in a New England Italian family, and that was just something my mother or other relatives ever cooked. Of course the fast food places like KFC, Mexican, Chinese, etc, were non existent back in those dark ages too. We ate a lot of Italian, seafood, and good old roast beef, pork chops, roast chicken and roast lamb. And I never heard of a taco either, and can even remember the name of the taco joint in CA where I had my first - Tico Taco!

Yikes - am I dating myself, or what??? I'd better go get my cane and wrap up in my shawl and spend the rest of my day in the old rocking chair. :D

How funny! Chilli and cornbread would really hit the spot! Just nippy enough for it to taste extra good!

And I'll get the kettle on for some tea later ....

Inspired by the last chili talk I made my own and happen to have that thawing for lunch today. Made a big pot and put it into small one meal containers. Everyone enjoy their chili!

It doesn't really go with Chili, but does anyone want any applesauce? Just made a batch, and have some left over, too much to toss, not enough to can.

I hate that middle ground. :p

It is just about lunch time here in good 'ol so. cal. but the temperature says "in the 80's"...........so chili is out - but I would love some homemade applesauce. I haven't had that for a long time. What kind of apples do you use, Ladie'sslave" - ooops "human".............

Hey - your "baby" brother is a year older today pomtzu.

"Baby brother" - now that really is very funny:D:D

Normally a mix of Cortlands and Empires, but we got to the orchard late this year, and the crop was lousy, so just empires, which means we have to add more sugar than we normally would.

Funny thing is that the applesauce we make and can at home has no preservatives in it ( potassium benzoate being frowned on for home use, :p), yet it lasts longer in the fridge than the commercial stuff that's loaded with preservatives.

Nope, it isn't the same color as Motts', but it tastes better.

Wrong LH - I can eat applesauce with just about anything! I often serve it for dinner in place of a 2nd veggie. If gini didn't eat it all, I could sure go for a big helping of it right about now.....:D

There's plenty left, don't worry about it. :D

THe kids could eat applesauce with anything as well, though I prefer it with pork chops or roasts, or with ice cream and cake. (one of the few boxed items allowed in the house, Pillsbury cinnamon streusel quickbread...makes a great dessert with applecause and ice cream)

I love apples and that sounds delish - I must try it.

I had a few apples in the fridge that weren't really crispy like I like for eating, so on Sunday I sliced them up and tossed them with brown sugar, cinnamon and butter - put them in a casserole dish and popped them in the oven to cook while the scalloped potatoes were cooking. It was like having apple pie without the crust! Yummy...:D

How about an apple-tini with some of the quickbread while we await our fate?

Happy birthday, Barkeep!
