My husband says it's just a coincidence and not to read too much into this episode but.... I had put a beaded ring that I had borrowed from a friend on my night table ( sparkly beads) hid it under some papers so the cats would not see it. They were playing during the night as they always do...in the morning I could not find the ring on the night table. Maya watched as I moved the table, the bed , looked in the sheets and all over the third floor. She was sitting calmly on the bed while I was frantically looking. I stopped glared at her and said MAYA WHERE IS THE RING. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH? She gave me a quizzical look , jumped off the bed, ran down the stairs to the 2nd floor by her scratching post then sat down and looked at me. There was the ring. She led me right to it. No one would question a dog doing something like this but why would one say that when a cat does this it's just a coincidence ? Anyone have any similar coincidences with their cats ???

This is amazing. It is hard to believe it's just coincidence.
On the other hand I have often asked Filou and Tigris similar things and they never answered...
I've just asked my husband about it and he said: Filou would even mislead you;)
But for me it seems more likely that Maya understood somehow what was going on. What she did seems too complicated for pure coincidence.

lailamara , I agree with Barbara, the event is just to direct to be a coincidence. I believe that Maya perfectly understood what you were looking for, because she "picked up your emotions, and probably the psychic impression of the ring also. She knew exactly what had happened to it because she had consciously moved it. ;)

Here's my take on this event. Your sweet Maya understood that the new toy you left for her was what you were looking for, and she remembered where she had "knocked it to" so that you would play with her, with it. I don't know that cats can determine what is important to you - just what is important to them! The coincidence was that both of you thought the ring/new toy was important at the same time!
My guys think that when a guest comes in to the house, that it is time to play with their fishing pole with the mouse on the end. They hound me until I get it out and play with them. This stems from me showing guests, early on, how crazy they get with the fishing pole. I started a monster. It is learned behavior - and now I am always reminded how little they forget!

SAS your explanation makes sense to me . This morning she knocked my heavy silver ring to the floor with a thunk. Took it away from her immediately. She must have a thing for rings.
