14 years old. Incredibly brave. And other girls will keep up what she has done if she doesn't pull through. All kinds of prayers that she does.

The Taliban will keep trying to kill the 14-year-old schoolgirl activist they shot in Pakistan’s Swat Valley, the girl’s cousin has told the CBC’s As It Happens radio program. Malala Yousafzai was critically wounded by a gunman who stopped the van that was taking her home from school on Tuesday. The Taliban said she was targeted for promoting the education of girls and for opposing the militants.

Saying prayers for this girl and her family. How sad.
I have been watching the story on this very brave young girl. The world is watching!
I think she is under medical care in England now.
Very sad situation for her and others.

She was flown to the UK for surgery, it is still unknown whether she will survive her injuries, but doctors are working hard, and with any brain injury, it will take some time before anything is known. But the one good thing that has come out of this is the plight of females under the Taliban rule has been brought to the forefront of the world's attention.

LONDON -- Doctors treating 15-year-old Pakistani shooting victim Malala Yousufzai said Friday that she is able to stand with help and to write, though she still shows signs of infection. Malala is "well enough that she's agreed that she's happy, in fact keen, for us to share more clinical detail," said Dr. Dave Rosser, medical director at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham,
"She is also keen that I thank people for their support and their interest because she is obviously aware of the amount of interest and support this has generated around the world."

Photo from today...her eyes are open, she is communicating by writing. There is still infection in the bullet path, so "she's not out of the woods yet" according to doctors.
