This little guy is at the South Side Animal Shelter where Liz and I both got dogs.

Trapper-URGENT!
Dog
German Shepherd Dog

Size: Large
Age: Baby
Sex: Male
I.D:

Notes: TRAPPER NEEDS A FOSTER HOME OR GREAT FOREVER HOME ASAP -- SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY, PLEASE! Trapper is a 6 month old German Shepherd Dog puppy (neutered)who was rescued this week from another area shelter. Trapper is described by the founder of the shelter as being "drop-dead gorgeous". He is approximately 30-35 pounds at this time. Trapper is a "special needs" dog in that he is also deaf. Trapper gets very excited at being held and petted, and we'd like very much to get him out of the shelter until a permanent home can be found. If you are interested in helping Trapper, please call 882-4080. We are going to be very particular about any permanent or foster placement for this special guy, so we would appreciate any calls be limited to serious inquiries only; significant experience required.

This pet is: up to date with routine shots, altered

Molly, this dog is safe, right? No danger of being pts?

I posted him on the GSD bb. Hopefully someone will be interested in helping this little guy out.

I inquired about our rescue taking in dogs from other states (like the blue dog, Chief, in Indiana), but we don't have enough fosters to rescue our area dogs. Someone told me that in my area, there are about 2-3 dogs a week that could be pulled, but there just aren't enough foster homes. That's why they had an adoption event to see if they could get more foster homes. :(

Sue, I don't THINK he's in any danger, I just think they want him out of the shelter because of his deafness.

Any more info on Trapper? Is he good with kids, say ages 7, 5 and 4 and two dogs, a 10 month old GSD and an older Golden mix?

I don't know, but I can call Rosie tomorrow and see. I'll let you know. It won't be until after school, but I'll do my best. Do you have a bite??? That would be awesome!

GREAT NEWS SUE!!! Here's the update:

1. Trapper MAY not be deaf.
2. He is in a very good foster home already
3. The foster home has a spayed female and they want to adopt Trapper!!

Rosie wanted me to express for her, her greatfulness at your willingness to help Sue. She really is a wonderful woman. She called me at about 7:15 this morning and we talked for about 1/2 and hour.

Sue,

Even better, she's been travelling to Robinson, IL to their shelter and bringing back carloads of dogs. If you go to her site at: www.ssasi.org and look at Daisy who is an absolutely gorgeous little beagle girl she is one from the Robinson shelter. Unfortunately, she has heartworm but she begins treatment (with donated money from the generous people) next week. You know you're a guardian angel for poochies too by opening your home to foster dogs. I admire you so much for being able to do that. People on Pet Talk in general, are the best people around with all their good will work for dogs and cats and other pets!!
