Sometimes
On any calm day
I find a lovely gift
Left for me by the wild birds I feed
One feather,
Small, pale, silvery soft in hue
Barely touching
The tips of the dark green mown grass,
Pristine and perfect,
Not one delicate vane misplaced
Just a lovely dove grey feather
With a clean white shaft
A piece of beauty
Resting alone,
For me to notice
And smile quietly inside
In awe
On any calm day
I find a lovely gift
Left for me by the wild birds I feed
One feather,
Small, pale, silvery soft in hue
Barely touching
The tips of the dark green mown grass,
Pristine and perfect,
Not one delicate vane misplaced
Just a lovely dove grey feather
With a clean white shaft
A piece of beauty
Resting alone,
For me to notice
And smile quietly inside
In awe
