I was in the cat room this afternoon and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I've heard of this happening before but it's never happened with any of my cats until now. I quickly grabbed my camera and I was able to record this short video of Radar trying to suckle from Finnegan. It didn't last very long but a bit later he was back at it again. I didn't want him to hurt Finnegan so I had to break it up. Here's the video. Enjoy!!!:)

That is VERY sweet!

Do you think the loss of Storm, and your emotions, has made Radar a bit nervous, so he is doing something calming? Just a thought.

Oh wait, isn't Radar the one who was quite ill recently? Maybe that is part of him needing comforting.

Awwww - how cute is that??? And I think Sandie might be right about him needing comforting and/or calming, since he's never done it before.

They are so sweet:)
Filou who was 16 weeks old when we got him ( so he couldn't miss his mommy too much ;)) and who was 3 weeks older (but much smaller) than Tigris used to suckle with Tigris during his first year
They both got over it when they grew up ....
I think as long as Finnegan is ok with it (and he seems to say no when he's had enough;)) they should be fine.

Yes, this could be happening for both reasons. I also e-mailed his foster mom about it and she said that she's seen this happen many times because they need comfort. She said she tries to keep stuffed animals with the kittens so they can get some comfort from them. Finnegan has been great with the kittens and he really loves them.:) He still technically a kitten himself until Aug. 20th. He's now become leader of the kitten pack.:)

Finnegan didn't seem to mind. Two boys, though? :D:p

Very cute and heartwarming! Maybe Radar is in need of some comfort after Storm's passing?

BTW, Luna and Lily started doing the same soon after I adopted Lily as a kitten in 2003. She suckled until she was about three years old:

I'm missing these days... Now all they do is fighting! *sigh*
