A young man in Old Bridge found a cat in distress last month. She was near starving and completely neglected--she was a housecat that was either dumped or left being when the deadbeats moved. Happens all the time in apartment complexes. Jesse built a 'shelter' for her on his small apartment patio and has fed her, but this cat has been out in this heat and rain all summer so far. He cannot take her in (roommate issue) and is being transferred to California on August 9.

PLEASE HELP--CAT NEEDS A HOME OR RESCUE BEFORE JESSE LEAVES ON AUGUST 9 !!

Initial crossposts for help have not come to anything, but this cat needs rescue NOW and time is down to the wire. It's a miracle that she's still alive, but Jesse has at least been able to keep her fed regularly and give her fresh water. She won't have that when he's gone.
ADDITIONALLY--she tries constantly to run into his house. THIS POOR CAT WANTS INSIDE.

She is friendly and loves to be petted, and is starved for attention and love.

PLEASE--is there any rescue that has some space for this poor girl? She is young, likely about a year or so. She's already had a litter of kittens, and is possibly pregnant again.

NO ONE IS GOING TO BE FEEDING THIS CAT AFTER AUGUST 9--

She is totally dependent on humans and cannot fend for herself once he leaves, and she won't be fortunate enough for another good Samaritan to take pity on her. URGENT THAT SHE HAVE A PLACE TO GO, SHE CANNOT FEND FOR HERSELF.

READ JESSE'S NOTE BELOW--VERY LONG, BUT INFORMATIVE.

If you take this cat, please go to him to retrieve her--I am sure Jesse doesn't have a carrier, and the risk would be terrible to her if he just took her in his car to meet someone.

Jesse's original note to me on July 5--

I know this is a little long, but please just bare with me, because I took alot of time to write this up :)

I got your information from PetCo on Route 9 in Old Bridge, I talked to one of your representatives there before and they were very helpful so I figured this was a good place to start. Long story short, I moved to my current neighborhoodoff of Route 18 in Old Bridge April 1st, and I noticed there are alot of feral cats. This is fine though, because these cats all have been outside since birth mostly and are extremely skilled at survival. However, in mid April, I was out in the communal back yard around 1am with a girl I was seeing at the time after coming home, and she discovered the cutest female cat, probably around 8-12 months if I had to guess. She was well groomed, clearly well taken care of and fed, extremely friendly (NOTHING like the ferals), could not get enough attention, and even had a flea collar and name tag. I kept and eye out for this cat since then because it was so sweet and I love animals, but I hadn't seen it.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, my roommate (who is allergic to cats), knocks on my door asking me if I've been feeding the local cats because there has been a mangy one on the back stoop (we have sliding glass doors) who has been howling and crying out there everyday while she eats lunch before work at 3pm, because the cat can see her through the window. The next time I worked from home I looked out and of course it was the same cat, but this time looking somewhat sickly with hair missing from its back and looking like skin and bones. My heart sank so I went and immediately called whatever local services I could find, since I knew this cat could not survive outside alone since it grew up indoors mostly, fed and care for by humans.

The local animal authorities basically told me it would be put to sleep, which I couldn't stand to do, so the next day (my current job contract ended so I'm on severance pay at home) I went outside and saw the cat half dead looking in the 99F heat. I took her over to my patio, fed her about a half pound of turkey haha, and a huge bowl of cold water. Everyday I've been spending time petting & feeding her since (she looks 100x more healthy), and she is more interested in attention than anything (I grew up with cats - she is probably the nicest cat I've ever encountered!!), but it breaks my heart that she has been abandoned (the collar with tag is removed) and once my new work contract starts in August I won't be able to care for her anymore and neither will my roommate because she is highly allergic (or else I would've taken her in myself). So yea, it looks like I made a long story long haha, but I am just at a total loss for what to do, but all day the cat cries outside until I come see it, and then I see it sleeping under chairs and patios, so clearly it has nowhere to go, and little to no survival skills (all the ferals are in the woods/sewers/etc all day and come back at night but not her).

She is clearly a house cat that has been abandoned and is now in good health again, but like I said I will be on contract again in August for Pfizer and rarely around so I don't know what to do. If you can, I would myself clean her up and bring her in to PetCo when you are there, and she would be the easiest cat you ever had to adopt out because of her incredible sweetness but I can't sit idly by while she dies out there. Even if you cannot in anyway help, can you point me in the right direction??

I really appreciate your help, thanks in advance.
