I can relate to many of these how about you ! Any photos to illustrate ?
You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
And that will show you.
You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail...
Behold! Elevator butt.
I need a new toy.
Tail of a black dog keeps good time.
Pounce! Good dog! Good dog!
The rule for today.
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.
In deep sleep hear sound
Cat vomit hairball somewhere.
Will find in morning.
Grace personified
I leap into the window
I meant to do that.
Blur of motion, then--
Silence, me, a paper bag
What is so funny?
The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds
Your foot just squashed one.
You're always typing
Well, let's see you ignore me
Sitting on your hands.
My small cardboard box
You cannot see me if I
Can just hide my head.
Terrible battle
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What's a term paper?
Kitty likes plastic
Confuses for litter box
Don't leave tarp around.
Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitos
Fear vacuum cleaner
Want to trim my claws?
Don't even think about it!
My yelps wake the dead.
I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?
Wanna go outside.
Oh, no! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!
Oh no! My Big One
has been trapped by newspaper.
Cat to the rescue
Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams!
My claws aren't that sharp...
Cats meow out of angst
"Thumbs! If only we had thumbs!
We could break so much."
Litter box not here!
You moved it on me again
I'll crap in the sink.
The Big Ones snore now
Every room is dark and cold
Time for "Cup Hockey"
We're almost equals
I purr to show I love you
Want to smell my butt?

Here is a Thread (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?threadid=5678&highlight=cat+AND+haiku) with some original ones from a couple years ago here at Pet Talk.
And here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?threadid=5437&highlight=cat+AND+haiku) is a thread where we made up limericks about our cats. Much fun, although I think we all decided to keep our day jobs. :D

stuff off of the shelf
cold morning warm cat
sleeping on top of my feet

deal with mean people
my cat is pure white
which makes it easy to tell
when he gets dirty

Richard you're great. I like especially the last one. I will try some this weekend. I feel I just cannot do it in between... (especially not in a foreign language)

Edwina is just enjoying the weekend comics. She could not possibly be disturbing your reading . She knows the best part of the newspaper. She has that "why are you disturbing my reading" look on her face.

For Gabe, in the thread about his first Vermont snow:
What is that cold stuff?
Yes, I've luxurious fur
But I'm not stupid!
What evil lurks there?
Frozen, white, wet on my paws ...
Quick! Shut the porch door!
Oh you nasty folk

These things just fall out of me.
Please just clean the box.

I have been around for years.
You WILL love me more.
Yes, I saw it there.
Yes, I see it on the floor.
How? I just don't know.

Why do you sleep while
I’m purring gently in your
Ear: I need some food.
White powder looks soft.
Will my paws walk in velvet?
Oh it’s cold and wet!
She sharpens the big knife.
They’ll have raw meat for dinner
Run to the kitchen!
Do not get up now.
Look I am just pushing my
head in your armpits.

A cat's theory:
Novels are best read
Through a smothering of fur
And warm, purring "help."
Did you not know that
Words are better absorbed when
Warmed first by cat butt?
What book could be more
Important than a cat's pride?
None! So love me NOW!
RICHARD
11-27-2002, 11:19 AM
karen,
it's kinda hard to type when you are laughing and crying at the same time...thanks..
furry purring butt
attached to a literate
cat, can be fun
reading by the light
of a moon is rather hard-
when it's the cat's butt.

Snowing, cold outside
Why do you open the door?
No frozen paws here!
I stare at wild birds
From my cozy windowsill
Could I catch them? Yes!
I am far too smart
To leave my warm spot just for
Some scrawny sparrow
I heard that sparrows
Taste better in warm weather
So why freeze my toes?
Barbara
12-06-2002, 03:05 AM
Karen that's great.
This thread here is so much fun.
The cats love it so.

frozen paws make me

all day long with you
---------
humans are crazy

why can't humans have
xmas spirit all year long?
all of us cats do!
RICHARD
12-06-2002, 12:13 PM
why work for scrawny
sparrows? mom will open a

food that Filou gets.
Barbara
12-06-2002, 04:30 PM
put my paws on the
food- not on scrawny sparrows
i'm killing mangoes
cold snow has no food
my dinner comes from foreign
countries like my soul
BTW: Filou only likes mangoes that come ripe from the countries where they are grown -we brought them from South East Asia or Mexico -sorry he's like that;)
RICHARD

or his other side?
RICHARD
12-09-2002, 05:35 PM
dozing on the bed
my tail keeps time to music
that only i hear
-------
you laugh at my rear
laugh if you want i have seen
you naked before;)
-------
the tale of my tail
is very simple, let me
explain, it's "THE END"
-------
a manx will never
know the fun of putting their
tail in owner's face
-------
my tail tells a tale
every time i walk up to
you, pay attention!

How does my brain work?
I am cat: inscrutable -
None of your business.
If you want to know
What your pet is thinking, well,
Get yourself a dog!
I keep my secrets:
I, cat, have dignity, a
Dog can never match
Barbara
12-10-2002, 03:08 AM
I am sleepy now.
I am so close to myself.
It's my tail that lies.
Scrawny sparrows in
the garden. I can't catch them.
My tail doesn't agree.
Fat German sparrow
One day you'll be caught by an
Abyssinian Cat
(sorry there are no scrawny sparrows around here -I noticed when I looked up "scrawny" in the dictionary)

on sunday i spent
the day sleeping in dad's lap-
while he watches sports
--------
i roll over to
get comfortable, it's time
to scratch my belly
--------
slowly my purr turns
into a snore that my dad
finds really funny
-------
asleep my pink nose
ears, paws make me kinda cute,
but when i'm awake....
-------
when i wake up i
look at dad, stretch and go in
search of my food dish
-------
i eat like a pig
drink and go to the potty
then i jump back on
-------
i like sundays the
most, i get to sleep in the
best spot in the world

i woke up today
staring into the yellow
eyes of a vulture
huge yellow hungry
eyes, we stare at each other-
make your move creature..
a vulture dropping
my books on my head-LOOK OUT!
one more paperback...
yellow eyes on a
white vulture? i look closely-
i see white fur!
fur not feathers on
this creature perched right above
my pillows and head
i look closer and
see it's not a vulture-it's
my cat sitting there
just a silly cat
pretending he's a vulture
he just wants his food
I better wake up
and feed this cat, paperback
books can really hurt!

devils and angels
are human categories
that don't bother us
mom says the greek word
means guys who mix all things up
intentionally
elegant cats
playful and comical kittens
that's what we are
stalking the mousies
killing the feather toys. yes
the porcelain bowl too
mischievous but not
awkward, attentive, never
deliberately
breaking the shampoo
bottle or the milk jar as
devils use to do

where does your patrol take you
when you leave the bed?
-------
do you protect your
food?, your water? your toys? or
maybe dad, who sleeps?
-------
a taste of food -small
crunching noises in the dark
the sound of water
-------
water being drunk,
making sure no night goblins
have been partaking
-------
a peek thru the shades
at the world gone dark then a
look thru the front door
-------
private Katz reports
back to the snoring lump that
dreams under blankets
-------
back onto the bed
"remain sleeping dad, every
thing is safe and sound":)
RICHARD
12-30-2002, 03:33 PM
filou, you are right
salmon is the best food in
the world for us cats
-------
i had a special
piece of fish cooked just for me-
fresh off of the grill!
-------
while dad cleaned dishes
i gave myself a nice bath
and went right to sleep.
RICHARD
12-30-2002, 04:37 PM
if my dad decides
to have me cloned would that make
me a copy cat?
RICHARD
12-30-2002, 06:46 PM
my dad talks to me
news sports and science but he
really likes physics
-------
"the laws of physics
and a cat, let's see what they
both have in common"
-------
inertia, force and
velocity, i think these
dont apply to me!
-------
an object (me) tends
to stay at rest until i
decide i should move
-------
an object (me) tends
to move with velocity
please watch where you step
-------
my inertia stops
when i decide to let you
give me some loving
-------
gravity does win
when i decide i want to
take a real long nap
-------
friction slows me down
when i want to rub against
your legs while you stand
-------
i've taught dad that things
that i knock off of the shelf
fall at the same rate
-------
i made dad a smart
man showing him science does
not apply to cats
:)
Karen
12-30-2002, 08:34 PM
My brother's theory of cat gravity, as developed with the help of Pippin, Lucas and Trillian:
Cats control gravi-
ty, that's why the light lap-cat
Gets so hard to move
Cats get heavier
With sleep - a 9-pounder can
Weigh 50 mid-nap
This is why three cats
On one large human can weigh
Too much to move off
Cat gravity can
Account for more late days than
Power outages.
RICHARD
12-31-2002, 01:16 PM
the science of cats
cannot be explained-logic
goes out the window
-------
a sleeping cat does
increase in weight the longer
the cat nap goes on
-------
cat anatomy
is another mystery
to all cat owners
-------
the vertebra in
a cat's spine softens as you
try to pick them up
-------
should i twist my neck
like my cat does while i sleep
i'd need some aspirin
Barbara
12-31-2002, 01:29 PM
Karen and Richard I love you both -you're getting better with each series.
Just shortly:
Filou's lament
i cannot sleep while
fireworks are going on around
the earth -new year's eve
A happy new year especially to the haiku gang!

the physical law
even cats fulfil is the
law of entropy
more time more heat that
is the law now remember
your cat on your lap
more time more chaos
that is the law now think of
cat toys in your room
more time leads to more
uniformity like the
fur layer in bed
RICHARD
01-01-2003, 11:15 AM
how could i forget
the most important law that
cats follow- chaos!
RICHARD
01-02-2003, 05:16 PM
can quantum physics
explain the thermal output
of a sleeping cat?
-------
I asked my kitty
and he stated quite freely,
"thermodynamics!"
-------
(shroedinger was not
a real nice guy he put his
cat in a steel box!)
Barbara
01-02-2003, 06:01 PM
the law of chaos:
similar causes have no
similar results
cats and toys follow
the chaos law- cats and mice
classical physics:
similar causes
have similar results: when
there's a mouse: chaos
(BTW: for doing haiku i need all fingers of my left hand and thumb and first finger of my right. are there higher beings who can do it without fingers? do other ethnic groups use other fingers?)
RICHARD
01-02-2003, 06:16 PM
the higher beings
that can 'do' haiku on one
'hand' are in your home!
i once knew a cat
who could count to seven on
his front-left-side foot
with five on the right
i pondered this sight until
i figured it out
this cat could count up
to twelve and never have to
look at his back paws!
Barbara
01-03-2003, 08:02 AM
ok says filou
back to the roots i count in
binary system
one mango one slice
of salmon another one
and then a mango
RICHARD
01-03-2003, 01:12 PM
filou, binary
diets sound wonderful when
you describe your meals:)
Karen
01-03-2003, 01:55 PM
Pippin says
Binary, heck! Just
One baby, or one black pup
Makes us three cats hide
Life was great back when
We three grand felines ruled our
Two simple humans
They brought home that dog
Stupid thing thinks we are friends
Doesn't know it's place
Okay, I admit
Sometimes I will condescend
And play with it. (Shhh!)
RICHARD
01-03-2003, 03:46 PM
oh no, the 'cat's' out
of the bag, interspecies
friends, who would have thought?
Barbara

wet and white outside
white rain or colourless i
don't go out today
my warm places and
filou's are all for me why
can't i double myself
mom on the sofa

only filou hunts
the red rope older than me
he's still so silly

RICHARD

my uncle michael
smoked some salmon just for me
i gave him a kiss
--------
i hope that the spring
season comes soon for my friend's
that live where there's snow
--------
my dad better not
buy that stupid lap top-his
lap belongs to me.:(
-------
i spent the day in
front of the door watching the
birds make fun of me.
--------
my favorite part
of the day is when the sun
heats up the floor tiles
i lay in the sun
dreaming and flipping my tail
up, down, back and forth
---------
my dad reads steinbeck-
of mice and men-i looked in
side-no mice pictures
dr seuss' cat
in the hat- plenty of cat
pictures in that one!
----------
Barbara

the cat of this day
is called doppler. do not call
a cat schroedinger
after all i know
feynman should be a better
name for any cat
RICHARD
01-08-2003, 11:40 AM
no, schroedinger is
not a good name for a cat!
name tag has no room
----------
a smart cat would change
his name to boots, whiskers or
here kitty, kitty!
RICHARD
01-10-2003, 01:09 PM
why bother with a
hot water bottle when you
can have a warm cat?
RICHARD
01-10-2003, 01:27 PM
i am the boss of
the house, dad foolishly thinks
he runs the household
-------
everyday he
rushes off to 'work' i miss
him while he is gone
-------
he has explained to
me that "if there is no work
the house does not eat"
-------
i don't care about
the house eating, wait a sec!
when does a house eat?
-------
once a week he says
"no work for two days!" NO WORK!
the house will not eat!
-------
oh no, i must wake
him up, NO WORK, NO EATING!
how can i wake him?
-------
i climb on the shelf
and knock his radio, books
on top of his head
-------
"not today! it's the
weekend!!!"- (what is a 'weekend'?)
i help him wake up.
------
he doesn't go to
work he stays home we eat, play,
sleep and watch t.v.
--------
no work for two days
but we still had fun and we
ate very well too!
-------
my dad is silly
i have been watching the house-
it still does not eat!
RICHARD
01-13-2003, 07:02 PM
insomnia keeps
me awake at night, the cure?
a purring kitty
-------
no radio show
jumping sheep or noise machine
can help me at night
-------
paws on the bed, a
face full of whiskers and the
soft purring kitty
-------
the warm fur ball curls
up beside me-i place my
hand on his belly
-------
the rumbling in his
chest begins, and soon we both
drift off, into sleep.
Karen
01-13-2003, 07:28 PM
Nothing is as warm
As a purring, soft, sleepy,
Comfort-giving cat.
Nothing weighs as much
As a sleeping lap-cat when
You want to get up
But ...
No sound is as soft
As a content bunny's purr
More secret than cats'

the purest being
on the planet could be the
cat inside your house
-------
such a small creature
with so much love stuffed inside
their little bodies
------
always at the door
with kitty kisses to get
you inside the house
------
welcome home! come in!
take your shoes off and relax,
spend some time with me!
---------
you look better now
no more stress, worry--will
you fix me dinner now?

this piece by debussy describes
cat paws on carpet
on the balcony

lift your lil' nose up

the ducks on the lake
stick their head under their feathers
the cat's far away

i have a magic
cat, he disappears from a
room, hours at a time
------
then, without warning
a furball appears in front
of my recliner

he yawns, grooms himself

"what's for dinner, dad?"

it's the magic of
an empty kitty belly
that makes him appear.

for my dad at home
-------
i prepare to do

stretching back muscles!

weight training, taking

cardio training
chasing me thru the house 'til

facial muscles! i

if i wake the cat
from a deep slumber, i get
the cat 'evil eye'

pedagogic ? sure....

my dad is worried that i
like it way too much.
i cry to go to
my grandma's place and i cry
until i get fire
i sleep in front of
the cracklin' flames, i love to
absorb all the heat
grandma worries that
the heat will make me sick but
i know when to move.
my dad is worried
that i will never come home-
that he's abandoned
i pretend i am
asleep in front of the fire
so he leaves me be.
finally i did
go home. I had to go to
potty, drink and eat.
next time i'll go
potty so i can stay at
grandma's a long time.

thank you Pet Talkers
dad brought me the gifts you sent-
cat nip and some toys.
i climbed in the bags
played with the wrapping foil
so much simple fun!:D
i batted around
the cat nip mouses and chased
the balls all around:eek:
but i've kept my dad
awake at night while under
the spell of cat nip!!! ;) :D

my magic carpet
was once my dad's beach towel-
love to sleep on it
-----
i love the colors
dark green fish, light green fishies
but what is a beach?
-----
dad says there's water
i really don't like that thought:eek:
but the sand sounds good:D
-------
a huge litter box
stretching miles and miles
cat heaven on earth!!
------
i dream of the beach
carried on that huge towel
to the water's edge.
------
oh, oh, thats too close!
maybe i'd be safer on
the sand next to dad.:p
------
dozing in the sun
watching the seagulls flying
the people surfing:confused:
-------
sometimes i cannot
dream, my huge towel is in
the washing machine! :(
-------
i have to remind
my dad that i cannot sleep
without my towel
-------
poor dad i know he
likes his huge towel, but he
likes me even more!

the size of the cat that left

how long is his tail?

the size of his bowl?

Optics
I can't reach the top!
Telescope kitty stretches
just a bit longer.
Magnetism
The darker the cloth
the easier it attracts
the hair of white cats.
Inertia
External forces
only move a resting cat.

I gave dad a scare
I wasn't feeling myself-
did not want to play
Just wanted to sleep
I didn't want to be held
Please leave me alone! :(
My grandma noticed
that I wasn't feeling well-
had a tummy ache......
My dad had noticed
that my tummy was swollen
(he thinks I'm a pig)
So to feel better
I used my litter box then
went to the corner
I threw up something
that puzzled my dad alot-
not hair and not toys-
Please don't tell him
I ate some chicken grandma
had left on her plate
He thinks I have good
breeding and table manners.....
that's just our secret!;)

a german shepherd....
a little girl dog
without asking me, how rude
she's not cute at all
I hissed at that dog:mad:
She drank from my bowl, ate too!
I stayed on the bed:confused:
I don't share my bowls
my house, treats or my master.
Boy, she has some nerve....
every ten minutes
I had to see where she was-
asleep in her cage:rolleyes:
I am not stupid
I am not going near that dog....
I don't play with dogs.
Then the door opened-
They came to pick up the dog:)
she is not staying!!!!!!

I am the center
of the universe my cat
happens to live in
The cold weather comes
forcing him to circle me
like a small planet
It's not gravity
that puts him into a
still smaller orbit
He follows that path,
a heat seeking projectile
awating impact
I will awaken
that night-from a deep slumber
the cat has landed
for a few hours
we symbiotically
exist on the bed
sleeping cat planet
absorbing my body heat-
weighs my body down
Rising morning sun
brings us out of bed
where we break contact
back into orbit
until the cool night brings
us back together.

both of his shoulders

where I can park my body
until morning comes:D

some days I'm treated
to the greatest show on earth
watching my cat play
An Olympic cat
The balance beam, sprints measured
in rooms, not feet
On your mark, get set…
a crouch explodes into speed
room to room to room
Finish line in sight
across the line, breaking tape
a world class time
A marathon scratch???
walking cat rear, balance-walks
across the sofa back
A long jump across
from arm chair to bed mattress
what extension, form!
a rhythmic gymnast
a stretching leg, an arched back-
a judge's score here?
I can judge my cat
on ability and grace
and his love for me
but in one event
my cat wins a gold medal
is napping a sport?
---------------------------------------
the alter ego
of a cat is their tail
a mind of it's own
I sit in my chair
cat rear on my left shoulder
cat head on my right
the teasing cat tail
flipping to an unheard beat
caressing my left ear
just a reminder
of the cat I own and the
mischief in his soul
----------------
kitty poop is the
end of a meal, face wash and
well deserved nap.

I play every night
Kitty twister- that real old
game of body parts.
Ed always goes first,
Right paw, place on human's foot.
left front on my knee.
Rear paw on left foot.
Right front paw goes on my hip
I am awake now!
Left front paw, MY RIBS!
Why is my cat so heavy?
Cat whiskers in face.
All paws on ribs now.
One half circle all paws move.
What a game this is!
Heavy cat body!
Lie down on human's rib cage
ED? CAN I MOVE NOW?
I lost at this game.
Only a cat can play this-
Me? I need my sleep!

My eyes can fool you
I look like I am dozing-

or under the stove:rolleyes:
----
My razor claws can
defend me or open your skin
when you play too rough:p
Small retractable
switch blades, under my control
Or out of control:eek:
I can climb up trees
or the screen door of your house
See those white curtains???

My claws and paws take me to
where I find trouble!:p   :D
