Being the VP of Little RES Q (largest known turtle rescue in Canada) isn't all work, there is some play, & I usually get all gitty & silly in excitement :)

These guys are being rehabbed at Turtle Haven. We work with Turtle Haven as the owner is super sweet & did a lot to help us get started.

This Ally Snapper isn't native so once its all better it'll be adopted out to a loving home.

BABIES!! There was 11 common snappers in total. These 11 are so very important to their species survival in Ontario.

This guy was fed steak as a pet so he didn't grow right at all. Hes super friendly & genetically fine. He'll make a good daddy one day.

Angie's pet Salcata. She is free range during the summer. There is a 2nd one, but she was in her cave & its a no no to bother them when they are in there.

I fell in love with this girl. Shes missing the while section of her face where her eyes should be. Someones dog dug up the nest & the owners of the dog did their best to save the surviving eggs. ALL 15 or so eggs hatched & as the little girl was helping set the babies free she noticed one had no eyes. They felt terrible and couldn't just "hope for the best", so they took it home & taught it how to eat from a fork. They would tap her nose with the fork & that told the turtle it was ok to bite said object as its food.

This is Audrey. Shes our biggest star & I use her the most at the shows now. I'll make a diff post about her later.

This is Kobe. He is part of the education team. He was at the vets to get a beak trim, but no amount of drugs was able to put him under. They gave him enough to put a very large snapper down & Kobe was still able to do laps around the vet office.

This is Razu. Her story is also very long & very heart breaking. Honestly she should be dead from the abuse she went through. One of the board members adopted her & she is WELL loved!

Hmmm. I can't find the pics of Boxie my Malayan Box turtle (endangered species). I'll have to take new ones later of her. I taught her how to walk & swim :D

Wow, thanks for sharing! Love all the pictures, and especially the baby snappers, so many! Did you know we saved one one spring? Sadly, his own gluttony cost him his life (one of our Molly fish had babies, and we think he just ate himself to death, as when we got home we counted maybe 6 babies, and the next time she had about 60), but it was neat having him while we did. They just look so completely prehistoric.

You should nominate one of your new guys for Pet of the Day! And tell the other folks in your group to do so, too - turtles are sorely underrepresented in the number of nominations we get!
