There was a post earlier asking about Cat Trees and what people thought of them. I didn't have this picture loaded then, but I wanted to show what happens when you don't get one large enough.
(Well, in my own defense, Che is a Maine Coon and quite large...18lbs of muscle and fur and only 19months old)

That's exactly how my Sydney was resting on her tree !!
You say "Main Coon" ??? OH no , my lil Inka is one of those ....!
Well , at least , now I know we will need a bigger cat tree next year  ;) ;)http://www.cindydrew.com/cats/free/kittenhammock.gif

And when they are big enough... make sure they can't tip over.
Snowy has toppled our over numerous times. It is close to 5 feet tall and heavy.
Once it punched a wall socket sized hole in the dry wall:eek:
Lucky I know enough about faux finishes to diguise it very well. Can't even tell it's there. One day he'll take out the TV. I know what you're thinking: Move it away from the TV. But, I swear there is not better place in the whole room. Unless it is dead center. Then we can't SEE the TV.
I was thinking of making a system of butresses for the base. Any other ideas?

Have you tried ancoring it to the wall? Maybe with some kind of shelving braces or something? It sounds like it could be a real problem!!
So far, this one is heavy enough and sturdy enough that I'm not worried. yet!

Thanks,
But there are no walls even near it.
It stands in front of the TV entertainment unit and by the snack bar.
I could move it in another room, but what fun is that if you don't get to see them use it. We spend most all of our time in this family room. I've gotten used to it being out in the room (a decorating nightmare) But the cats win over design. They are so fun to watch on that thing.
Maybe I'll try to post a picture.
Thanks again.

I've got 2 cat trees and both can accommodate a 16 lb cat (Casey) as well as the others. That picture is hysterical!!!

I think with the fan where it is, the cat lying how he does, and the tail properly elevated, well, never mind...:D

Great pic, what a big cat. I think my two combined weigh about 19 lb. Do you get squished in bed with such a big cat? :)

LOL!!! With the fan where it is, him laying the way he is, his tail in that position...instead of the Flying Nun, we'll have flying CHE!!
I get squished by all FOUR of them in my bed. Queen sized, just for them (isn't everything for them?) Tari weighs 14lbs and Runner weighs 11. Little Pickett's the only bearable weight and he won't be for long.
Wouldn't trade them though...
