I trapped a beautiful BIG orange boy today. A neighborhood stray with big golden eyes, he was clearly NOT feral, just very scared.
I brought him to the vet to be tested, vaccinated and neutered. While under anesthesia, they discovered he tested positive for Feline Aids. They called me and asked me what to do. What COULD I do????:(:(:( I had to make yet ANOTHER gut wrenching decision.
I can't get his beautiful gold eyes out of my mind!!! All I keep thinking about is him staring back at me from the trap terrified. :( I feel so bad that I couldn't be there with him when he crossed the bridge. I feel like I let him down. :(:(:( I ALWAYS am there when any cat I trap, or are owned by, cross over.
RIP sweet Josh. I am SO sorry. I loved you, even for the brief moment. Play hard at the Bridge. :(:(:(

Don't feel bad, Donna. You likely saved him from a far worse fate.

Karen is right. Oh how I wish there were a hotline for placing the FeLV+ kitties! I see them posted on CL here now and then, as folks try to save them. Just not fair!!!

I am sure Phred met him on the Bridge and gave him a ton of hugs and snuggles.
((HUGS)) Moosmom, you do so much for kitties. You didn't know he was FIV+.

I am so very, very sorry, Donna.
You are deeply loved, Joshua, and never alone, ill, or frightened again. Your Meowmie who brought you home is with you always. Love is eternal.

I think it was Barbara that posted in the kidney transplant thread, death is inevitable. I consider what you did more humane than most anything else. Joshua was loved, briefly, but that was the circumstance. RIP, Joshua, and hugs to you, Donna.

WE are so sorry that Joshua was not able to be your Newest Cat Companion.
It sadly reminds me of Ebony Beau Tubster who I really wanted to adopt but had so many things wrong with him.
I know that Ebony Beau Tubster and all my Porch Angels will be there waiting for Joshua with his wings of silver and gold , and that he will be there for you as you acred Donna, when no one else did.
You will be together furrever in Paradise.
One Fine Day:love:

I know the torment, Donna, b/c I've been there. I had to make the same decision about a rescue a few years ago under the same circumstances and it was gut wrenching. I say "goodnight" to him every night, my big, lovable Buddy. If he didn't know you loved him then, he knows it now, Donna. RIP, Joshua, and peace to you, Donna.
