I was thinking the other day how many different noises my cats make. I googled to check on the one noise that Tink makes that my other two cats do not make.
Whenever Tink jumps up to visit me whether it be in bed or on my chair watching television, she makes this noise which sounds like it comes from the throat. It isn't a meow. The noise starts low and goes higher. It is really a cute noise.
Anyone know what I am talking about?

Oh, I think I do know that noise, it's so cute.
I've also recently noticed how many different miaws Fister has, and I thought of recording them, but that is difficult.

Same here. I would love to record them!
Yesterday when I came home from work I had a couple bags of groceries to put away before I gave out the wet food to the cats. Buddy was doing these high pitched short meows that I don't think I have heard before. It was so darn cute! He really knows how to pull on my heart strings.

Cassie was very chatty last night when I got home! Wish I'd had a video camera -- she can be quite the conversationalist when she is in the mood. This morning I was fixing cereal and milk and she let me know in no uncertain terms that she wanted some milk, too :)

Chatty Cassie? That would be a great name for a stuffed toy cat! I love when they are talkative.
Buddy bugs me for his teaspoon of cream every morning while i am making my coffee in my Keurig. I just keep asking him "what" and he wil meow.:)

Could Tink's noise possibly be described as a chirpping trill? When Tumbles was a kitten, I wanted to "do things right" so I bought a kitten care book. It explained that when the Mother cat has been away and comes back to the "nest", the kittens will chirp/trill a greeting.
After I read that, I made it a point to listen to Tumbles when I would come into the room to see what she did...and it was the sweetest little trill ever! The only way I can give an example is to imagine running your finger an octave up a scale on a piano, from low to high.
So...if this is what Tink might be doing...it sounds like she is "greeting" her mother! How sweet! ...And if it's not what she is doing...it still sounds loving!
Until next time...Annie

Yes! That is the perfect description...a trill. I am noticing that Mama does it as well and she is Tink's true maternal mom.
Tinky just did that to me this morning when I got up she was laying on the end of the couch and I said good morning to her and she made that noise and rolled over and showed me her belly.

How sweet! She has something to tell you, meowmie!
Cassie gives a little "murp" noise sometimes when she hops up on the bed with me. I love that.

Kirsten's thread about the "mmrrr" sound got me thinking.
Cassie makes a similar sound as if to say, "Hey!" or "Mom!" It's kind of a "mmrr" sound but louder and higher pitched, like she can't be bothered to make a longer sound. Sometimes she does it when she is happy, and she often does it when I should stop whatever I am doing and pay attention to her!

I'm not exactly sure what was bugging Cassie last night, but she was definitely giving me a piece of her mind! I wish I'd had a video camera! I couldn't help but laugh.

So it's Saturday afternoon. I'm in the living room, on the computer. Some-kitty is in the bedroom meowing loudly. It's her "Mom, come in here and be with meeeeee!" meow. I'm waiting to see what happens next. We all know who is in charge around here and it's not me!
