Kasey Kahne is doing an meet and greet there, so aI looked up the date for the Daytona 500...

I saw him race a sprint car in a World of Outlaw race YEARS ago. I miss those days.....dirt clots being thrown up into the stands.........loud cars..........the accidents.

Taz, you should come to Ohio and go to Eldora with us! It's a great dirt track. Every year Tony Stewart (he owns it) holds the Prelude to the Dream. Kasey is always there along with many other drivers who do it for the fun and to raise money for different foundations.

That would be so cool! But it's not in the budget. :( I use to go to Hanford, CA to watch the races. I think the Outlaw race we went to was in Calistoga.

You should go sometime...we'll go again I'm sure if you go, Las Vegas isn't too far from us (5ish hrs driving). One of these days I'll convince some PTers to head my way. ;) I'm excited, should be good times. :cool:

I think racing is popular enough - and the drivers competitive enough - that that would never happen!

Richard Petty's 200th career win SHOULD have been a DQ, as he had about 20 CI extra in his engine.

The delay after the JPM crash was so long, I forgot to watch the end of the race......:(

Wouldn't the pickup have to be in the pickup?

From the looks of it that tank was just a diamond plate tank like you buy for farm equipment. SHould have been a bladder setup like is on the cars. That's not the first time the safety crew has taken a hit, just the most spectacular.

I'll have to link the article later, but I just saw Ryan Newman is visiting Best Friends in Utah while they are out west this weekend. A camera crew is going along and it will be a story in the pre-race to help bring more awareness to animal rescue. Go Newman!

Scary as hell to watch! It's a miracle that no one in the stands was killed. I can't imagine seeing a tire or anything else that was flying off that car, headed in my direction. :eek:
