I'm trying to post another reply in my In Memoriam thread. No matter how many times I hit reply, I keep getting a Quick Reply box. That's not what I want :(

Just did a quick check and the very same thing is happening no matter the topic. All I get is the Quick Reply box.

It also doesn't make any difference which browser I use. Writing this "quick reply" using Safari; the original was with Firefox. Very curious.

Especially when I decided to try the "Go advanced" button on the Quick Reply page. This part is being written within a normal appearing reply box

Under the quick reply box are options for Post Quick reply or Go Advanced or Cancel. Click the Go advanced and it should birng up the reply box you are used too. It threw me off for a bit too.

Thanks, I finally figured that out. But it wasn't like that right after the switch was made - was it? Seems like I've posted in the past week without going through all that stuff. Whatever.

Thanks again, MOFF.

IT took me awhile to figure this out too.:D Seems like a very round about way of getting to a regular sized post.:)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered what was going on. Took me a couple of tries to figure it out and realize that I really wasn't losing it.

No it wasn't like that originally. It just happened today. Annoying...

Yes, as mentioned, we just turned this feature on. There's not much difference between Quick Reply and a normal Reply, other than you cannot put a title on a post, and you get a bigger box to type in and all the clickable emoticons handy if you hit "Go Advanced."

If people don't like "Quick Reply, we can turn it back off, we figured we'd give it a try for a few days, and see what folks thought.

I am such a creature of habit. Some days I fear I am turning into my crabby old father. :D
Let's see what everyone thinks.

Karen you are awesome for putting up with us! :)

I replied in another thread about this last night because this is when it started happening to me. I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one. I prefer to just have it the old way so I'm going to try to change mine back.:) I guess I can't. I just don't like having to also click on go advanced to that I can use the emoticons.

I agree with Tracey. This "new" way is inconvenient and confusing.

In the future, if there are other changes like this, is it possible for you to put a Sticky at the top of the board so we all know what's going on. This has been very disconcerting, especially for those of us who are more "mature" :D

I read this initial post, then went to a thread and replied, came back here to say yes it is happening to me too. Oh, it is now set that way! Um . . . I'm with Ellie, the more "mature" posters, but I can get used to it if I have to . . . I guess. . . ...

That's why we have the thread "New on Pet Talk" going!

It's nice that this new stuff is so flexable, but if you want to know what people think,
I like it the way it used to be.:)

I think that we should at least have the option to turn quick reply off if we want to. Others here may enjoy using it so this way everyone would be happy.:)

I think this new Quick reply on pettalk is really nice! :D Another site; horseforum has the same thing.

If only pettalk would have a like button! That would be awesome :D :p

I think this is a good idea if it's doable. I personally like the old way too, but I can live with the new way if necessary. :)

I know I'm nit-picking here, but that particular feature, quick reply, was only begun yesterday. It wasn't "new" when we began with this server. And there was no notice that it was in effect

Just my ranting, but couldn't this particular thread - New on Pet Talk - be stuck to the top in this section. And when changes are made, couldn't they be noted in here - so we don't think we're getting too old too fast???

As Tracey said - I think that we should at least have the option to turn quick reply off if we want to.

The fewer clicks, the better - that''s how I see it. So I'm glad "Todays Posts" now appear up on the top. :) Some things may not be able to change, vBulletin has their standard, I guess, but I really would like to see the text color darker.

One other thing... if I try to upload a picture, the Attachment box will come up and I can't get to the IMG field where I normally copy and put it in post. However, I can get to that field with the pictures that has been in my albums all the time. Hmmm!

Yes. images are handled a bit differently. You can still type in the image tags [img ] and [ /img] if you want, but I will make a separate thread on how posting images works now.

I've been "on the fence" regarding the change. The quick reply - go advanced doesn't bother me. Every time I hit quick reply with gmail I get the advanced, so I'm used to it.
