Please post in this thread any issue or problems you notice.
Albums are a bit more complicated now, but after a lot of work, Paul got them to work correctly. Adding a picture is a few more steps, but it does walk you through it pretty straight-forwardly.

Thanks for your hard work, Karen and Paul. :)
If it's possible, I'd love to see the text font on the index page a bit darker. I use the default blue.
The picures of the Dog/Cat/Pet of the Daystill doesn't move in when you "shrink your window a bit, but go on top of the text above. Can that be corrected?

In the thread header for Thursdays #465....
just to the left of Replies and View, there is a odd little mark. What is that? Don't see it on any other threads.

That is a "tag" mark. That means someone has added "tags" to the thread. "Tags" are handy for what thread are about, and if you look at the righthand column on the homepage, you'll see the "Tag cloud" where the most popular tags are listed and clickable.

For some reason, I keep having problems adding the emoticons in the cat memorial thread. I have to post my response and then go back and edit it in the advanced setting and then I can add the emoticon. So far I haven't had any problems adding them on the other threads.

I tried and it worked fine, what happened when you tried?

When I have tried to add them, nothing happens until I post a reply and then go back and edit it on the advanced setting.

Below the message box on the RHS is a "Top" button. I imagine that takes one back to the top of a page, but when I click on it, nothing happens.
This happened before the new server was up, so I just thought it would be tweaked later.
What's it fer? :)

We are still working on some things. For example, "Search" right now does not entirely work, it still has several days to go in rebuilding the search index. So that's a known issue, it just takes time.
And if anyone is missing the old link that said "Who's Online" - now you just click the link where it says there are ZZZ users online and that gives you the results "who's online" used to.

Another thing that has moved it "Today's Posts" - it is under the "Quick Links" item on the menu bar!

What is your criteria for setting up "similar threads" at the end of a thread?

Karen, is it possible to have "Today's Posts" readily available on the bar where "New posts" etc. are?
... and can we get the links under "Viewed posts" and "Replied to", like we used to have? :)

Today's Posts is sitting right there under "Quick Links" right below the "What's New" button on the darker green bar below. There you can also easily view "Subscribed threads" which would include all threads you have replied to if you have that preference checked in your profile.
Catty1, no idea why "Top" doesn't work for you, for me it jumps me back to the top of the page.
Freckles - the "similar threads" are a product of the software, it looks for like keywords, etc., with no regard at the moment as to when the thread was posted. That, too is part of the search engine, which Paul is working on rebuilding. Once that is done, we can change some things, as you can imagine, having an index of all 2.x million posts is critical but also time-consuming.

Something else you may have noticed:
Now, where it listed "the newest user" it is the most recent person I have approved as a member, not the most recent person who has registered, but is not yet approved. This will keep you all from seeing all the drug-name spammers, etc., who register and try to join. You don't "See" anyone until we say they are good to go. So if you have a friend who registers and wonders why they are not showing up yet, urge them to post an intro or comment, so I will know they are a real person!

I found a glitch related to this.........
Under "What's going on/currently active users", I clicked on a couple of unfamiliar names, and they are definitely of the spam variety and just registered today 1/26.
If you want the names I'm referring to, let me know.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but my question is: Who (or what) is Baidu Spider?

Baidu is the Chinese search engine, the equivalent of Google for China. So it is expected, and even good that it is scanning Pet Talk!

So, more changes:
You will notice "Today's Posts" is now in the top green bar, and the "Home" button, that was useless, has disappeared.
All the Google gadgets should be working, progress is being made!

Karen, just a question about the search function. I miss the ability to search by sections of the forum - for example, I used to be able to search for all threads started by momoffuzzyfaces in Cat General. Is there a way you can restore that?
Thank you,
elyse

If you click the tab that says "Search Single Content Type" then you have the option to search by forum. Seeing as most of the time you're searching within posts, that should work for you. We'll look to see if adding that to "Search Multiple Content Types" so it is available all the time.

Hmm, did your Firefox update itself? That's good that it is now working, in any case.

I know there has been at least one update since the original problem - I really pay them no mind since they are automatic.

That would explain it - they fixed a flaw in Firefox! ;) Thanks for letting us know, in any case!
