Pet Talk Server/ Down Time

We are moving servers, and upgrading the software for Pet Talk. We were planning on doing it anyway, but with the trouble we have had with the current server, we have to do it now. I know some of you have not been getting email notifications the last few days, and it has been very trying for us.

This does mean that Pet Talk will be down at least some of this weekend. We hope to make the time it is down as short as possible. As you can imagine, moving sites of this size and installing and upgrading software takes a lot of time. But we are hoping to be able to get it done Saturday, and have Pet Talk back up on Sunday, if everything goes as planned.

We will update you with more information as time goes on. The new version of the software will have more features, including some smart phone capabilities, which I know lots of people have been hoping for. There are other changes as well.

(And just so you know, I say "we" but this is 99% Paul, with me trying not to hover too dreadfully.)

He's not a hot drinks person, but I will make sure there is plenty of Coca Cola on hand ... and his spicy noodle soups.

It's just hard for me because there's NOTHING I can do to actually help, and pacing/fidgeting is not helping!

Thanks for the info on this change Karen. I lost web connection this
evening after I posted to DOTD. Problem was on my end. I got a new
pc & different internet provider for Christmas & I'm still working out
the newness & changes. I'm glad to know things ahead of time.:)

Oh, yes, and everybody should have their username and password written down, just in case. When we upgrade the software, it may require you to log in again, especially as we will be changing servers, AND upgrading the software at the same time. So better safe than sorry!

I've had to do way too many large site migrations *and* trying to upgrade the software at the same time, I know it's not fun because there's a lot of places that it could completely fail at. I wish you guys luck.
