this is similar to the thread, 2002 things we like.
what comforts you when you are down, or sad?
I'll start.

1. cookie dough! I will admit to buying the ready made cookie
dough tubes, and eating some of it raw!

2. a flannel nitegown or my favorite blanket
3. an unexpected phone call or letter/card or email from a friend.

My comfort food is a Dairy Queen "Reeses Pieces" Blizzard, yum :D

5. My husband... he is real funny and can always make me laugh.
6. Hearing a kitty purr... there is nothing more relaxing.

Um... what have I done to comfort me? Sometimes when I am extremely mad I like to beat up my stuffed animals till they are almost ripped open, I sometimes shove my face in a pillow and scream really hard, I punch/kick the wall, or throw a big temper like a 3 year old. When I am really sad, or battling my depression, I like to play with and cuddle with my rats, lay in my bed under a heap of blankets and zone out, go sit outside and watch the squirrels and birds, talk to my parents or friends, and much much more.

My comforts are my kitties - purring or just laying with me, my mom, and my boyfriend :D

Rain, Grasshopper, and a good book, with my version of Mexican coffee (add cinnamon sticks, a little cocoa and cream. I have been known (ahem) to call in sick when it rains, which is almost never, here.)

A fireplace with a big pile of pillows to curl up in, again with Grasshopper and that good escapist book.

Almost any ice cream! Yummmmmm, especially really rich vanilla in coffee.

And sometimes even Dadcat!!! (Just kidding, always Dadcat.)

Bwaaahhahahaha! Yes! The "salmonella in a tube"! (My husband noticed that raw eggs are one of the ingredients and said I would get salmonella from eating it - whatever - I've been eating it for 30 years now and I'm still here.) I don't eat some of it raw - I hork down the whole tube (though not all in one sitting, at least not yet;) :p :D !

I feel comforted when I veg in front of the computer, playing spider solitaire or chatting on Pet Talk (or both at the same time), with my kitty sleeping and purring on my lap. I also like a nice cold Dr. Pepper on ice, or if I need serious "comforting", a Baileys Irish Cream (or two) on ice! :p A little couch time with some mindless TV show and a soft pillow is nice, too.

Sadly, my husband is not very comforting - he's sweet and cute, but usually the source of my stress rather than the cure:p!
I still love him madly though, after 20 years together.:)

LOL! I thought I was the only cookie dough lover!!!!! Whenever I make cookies, I eat so much of the raw dough, whether it has eggs or not! I've been doing it for over 12 years (since I was an teeny tiny little kid) and I still love it just the same. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but its SOOOOOOOOO yummy, I can't help it! Sometimes I think the dough is more delicious than the cookie itself!!!!

What helps cheering me up when I feel down?

Well, I'd say watching my birds play, sleep, eat, bathe, or whatever they like to do. I also find comfort in stroking their feathers or scratching their little heads.

I find comfort by sitting with my mom and telling her what's troubling me.

I find comfort in chatting with my friends/family on MSN Messenger.

I find comfort in lying in bed, and just being alone for some time, although if that provokes thoughts of what's troubling me, it sometimes makes it worse. Its best when I fall asleep. I wake up feeling as if nothing had ever happened!

Cookie dough *IS* good, hehe. I've eaten it plenty of times, and never got sick either.

Comfort is...

Feeling warm in the winter. Like when it's all cold outside, and you are curled up in a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate. :D

Watching animals....I love to just sit there and watch Nebo play....or just sit there and stroke the dogs' fur....I also like to play with their feet and tails.....well, only Nebo really has a tail, lol.

Laying next to someone....whether that someone is canine or human, it's just comforting to have somebody near you....ok it even counts if that someone is a large stuffed animal, lol.

Reading a good book...especially when you get into it so much that you stay up all night because you *have* to finish it

rofl!! ok im not the only one! I didn't want to admit that part, but I will now hehe! usually in 2 maybe 3 sittings!

also- I like grasshopper too!:)

and yes, a good book... don't laugh, but I have been known to read the.......enquirer! shh! (it is the same as mindless tv, it makes you forget what is bothering you)

Burning a Eucalyptus Yankee Candle and listening to peaceful music while holding one of my 6 cats as he/she purrs.

Definitely BEN AND JERRY'S TRIPLE CARMEL CHUNK ICE CREAM - I can eat a whole pint in one sitting, with my cats as an audience (okay, sometimes I'll give them a lick or two).

Laying in bed listening to a tape of a rain storm with eucalyptus candles burning (the smell is SO relaxing).

A bubble bath with a furry audience.

Comforting? Hmmmm....coming home after work, putting on my flannel jammie pants and a sweatshirt, drinking some passion tea, reading any of my magazines, with the approriate cat breaks inbetween...I always put down a magazine or book for a furkid..not ten thousand times, again and again, but at least once per cat.

Totally comforting, and totally weird? Friday night, going to the gym, then coming home and cleaning the house, changing the sheets, doing the laundry (and putting it away), and then going to bed with a magazine and waking up Saturday am...knowing everything is already clean...he he he..when you live in a house the size of a large shoe box...you can clean it all in one evening.

Guess I'd have to say cuddling with Mark:D
But if he's not available, the next best thing is playing with the dogs, that always makes me feel good!

Hmmm...I'd have to say my hubby Mark...he always knows how to hold me just right, and to cheer me up. The other night, I was so upset about something at 2:00 in the morning, and he didn't even cared that I woke him up...he just held me so tight and helped me to relax and go back to sleep. Second to that is my Malone...he is such a good comforter, and always knows when I cry. He comes up so tenderly and lays next to me, and every once in a while will lick my cheek. I don't know what I would do without either one of them!!

Takein Chewy outside and throwing the ball as far as I can and watch his little legs run as fast as they can take him. LOL. Always cracks me up. When I'm mad I run a mile with Chewy and when I come back I'm so tierd we both just collapse in my bedroom and take a nice long (2 o 3 hours) nap. Its so nice :D , And I loose weight. Hee hee. I think my parents make me mad on perpose now  . Its the only time I ever run. Me and Chewy sometime go back in the forest and build a bridge at this river. Its alot of fun to brake the ice and fall in the nice cold water. You are thinking so much about your freezing cold leg that you forget about all your madness or sadness or whatever. I also like to give Chewy a bath. I dunno why. I find it fun and relaxing. So Chewy always smells good :D . Poor Chewy, seems I take all my emoitions out on him. My best comfort though is...going to school and being around my friends when I'm down they always give me a hug and talk to me non stop. They are the thing that keeps me from gonig insane when my parents divorced then finding out I had to get ride of Chewy and then when I was told I had to move with my dad. They helped me sort out my emotions and I eve ncryed at school once or twice and felt totally comfortable. They are the best people I have ever met and Hope they stay that way.

Comforting.......????? Reading about all of your cozy comforts!! I think I've found comfort in most all of them over the years. Maybe not punching out my stuffed animals!! As a child, my brother used to do that to ME when he wanted to upset me! I've never forgiven him for that!:D I love autumn and winter. It's such a "comforting" time of year. I love to put on a fire, curl up on the couch with an Agatha Christie mystery, a blanket, some jasmine tea and my husband and then thank God for the all of the loving furry creatures that are jockeying for couch space!:D

A walk on the beach at the end of the season when the crowds are all gone.
Waking up in the morning and realizing it is Saturday :)
A brisk walk with Bella on an autumn day
Watching the snow fall while sipping a hot cup of tea
The smell of something delicious baking in the oven
Breyer's mint chocolate chip ice cream!

Comfort for me would be, a really good song or two. I have a couple that when I play them it helps calm me down.

A hug from my mom she knows just how to hug.

Cuddling down under my blankets and forgetting everything.

Playing a good game of hockey on the computer, there's just something about beating the crap out of the computer that's relaxing :D

And last but not least Smudge and Winter. They always seem to know when I need some puppy loving either in a small one dog dose or double team let's try to make mommy laugh dose.
