My dad turned 80 Yesterday..

well we were all prepared for a family party this weekend at my sisters house in auckland city,to celebrate dads milestone birthday.

Dad has been a bit under the weather the last two weeks, with what we thought was a nasty cold virus, however on his birthday in comes the notice saying you have WHOOPING COUGH,bit of a shock really ,but sure explained why he had been so unwell and so exhausted, it is hard to keep my dad down believe me, he stills looks after his cows and buys and sells stock at his ripe old age.

So all has been postponed, as very contagious,and we have a family member who has no immunity at all, and two little boys too, so you never know what is around the corner, he does seem somewhat better than he was the last two weeks, but i am told recovery can be a long process.

Congratulations to your Dad, and we hope he recovers soon. We threw a big party for my Dad when he turned 80, and warned him he would just have to endure the fuss and bother, at it was a "zero year" birthday! Dad's not really a party kinda guy, that was more Mom's delight, but he survived it anyway in good humor.

THANKS yes we plan to do that but not sure when with xmas nearly upon us, might have to be in the new year.,luckily the cake could be cancelled.,dad not really the party sort either, or me or my mum, but just a family thing, so should be nice to get together.

Tis not true what they say about the scottish, we are not all heavy drinkers and party people lol,or TIGHT with our money, none of us like that at all ,such a big generalization really.:)

Happy 80th Birthday to your dad Carol. I hope he gets to feeling better. I had whooping cough as a child & it was a good 6 weeks before I got to feeling better.

THANKS, we have decided just to get together for xmas at my sisters and combine the celebration, so all good, yes will take him some time to recover, but here's hoping my mum does not succumb to it,fingers crossed.
