A statement on the CBS News' website said he died Friday night in a New York hospital of complications following minor surgery.
Here he is as a mere 'kid' of 69.

I always liked him.
Andy, sit back and let God take care of you for a while. You worked right up to the end.

Yes I just read about this, for me Andy was the best part about 60 Minutes. He always made me laugh in some way with his life thoughts. The only thing I didn't like about him were those hairy eyebrows :) RIP Mr. Rooney.

This is what he said about his bushy eyebrows: (from a CNN article)
On his bushy eyebrows: "I try to look nice. I comb my hair, I tie my tie, I put on a jacket, but I draw the line when it comes to trimming my eyebrows. You work with what you got."

When he said he would miss his Sunday talks, I believed him
felt the same.:( He was the only real person on TV. Nothing phony
about him & that's what I liked. He will be missed for sure.

The poor guy didn't even get to enjoy a real retirement. :(

I loved AR and thought he was a swell guy, writer and all around grumpy beesturd.

You know what I hate?
I hate those stupid hospital gowns they put you in while you are ill.
They don't give you any privacy and let cold air tickle your private parts.
Not only that, you have to have at least one hand free to try to keep you rear end covered - an impossible task when you are pushing an IV pole.
That is what I would have expected from AR about his hospital experience.
RIP, you were one of a kind.
