Oh sweet Lucy there is no such thing as "just another cat".

I enjoyed reading your story. There is nothing more special than the bond between a cat and their owner in my opinion. I can so relate to your mom's story about how you talk to each other.

It is tough to get old but you seem like you are doing it gracefully.

Enjoy your day of fame pretty girl. :)

Hello Lucy, What a lovely girl you are! You certainly do not look 19 yrs old. Your mom has taken great care of you through the years and it is obvious that she loves you very much and vice versa. Now that you are slowing down I imagine that each day will be even more precious for both of you. Congrats on being COTD!

Lovely Lucy, you are a dream kitty! I so enjoyed your Mom's beautifully written tribute to you, her soul mate! I am sorry you can no longer hear her serenade you by singing Sunshine on my Shoulders. Maybe if she put you up to her throat as she sang it, you could feel the vibrations and recognize it as your song? Just a thought. I hope you have an extra special day together with your devoted and loving Mom, maybe going for a short wallk outside and then snuggling together. May you cherish every day and continue to enjoy each other's company for many, many more years, dearest Lucy!:)

Oh sweet Lucy there is no such thing as "just another cat".

Lovely Lucy, this is exactly what I thought while reading your story.;)

You may have slowed a step but you are as beautiful as ever. I guess I am biased though because my RB kitty girl Petey shared the same colours as you, even the little tan coloured patch on your forhead, and had the same beautiful green eyes. She was a long hair though. I miss her so.

So Happy COTD to you today Miss Lucy! I pray the good Lord gives you and your meowmy many, many more.:cool:

Thanks for sharing the story of your life with Lucy - she really is beautiful. I was sad to read about her hearing loss and that she also has hyperthyroidism. My cat Caramel was recently diagnosed with that disease but with the help of Tapazole his numbers went from the high 80s to 5! He now only takes .5 of a pill a day and is therefore more active again (otherwise he was sleeping his life away). I find good quality canned food helps him very much also and he sometimes "yells" as well. This type of thyroid problem can tax the kidneys too so be sure that they check that in the bloodtests as that can cause discomfort and other problems otherwise. Bless you and Lucy and I hope she is around for a long time - we can see the connection in the picture of the two of you. My Caramel gives me a hug and squeeze around the neck every day I get home from work and then I lie down with him on my chest and we stare at each other with love and chat. What would we do without these amazing buddies!

Lucy, you're a beautiful cat indeed, and that shot of you and your catmom is just the sweetest...I understand how it would be difficult to put into words the joy you bring her. Bless your furry spirit Lucy, and here's wishing you lots of sunshine and happiness in the years ahead! :)

Lucy what a lovely girl you are!!!

I loved seeing your sweet pictures today. You certainly look great. Your mommy telling about how you meow louder now remimds me of my uncle. He can't hear well any more so talks louder now. I don't know if that's because he can no longer hear himself or just thinks everyone else can't hear either. Anyway, it certainly doesn't distract from your charm and sweetness.

Congratulations, sweetie, on being our very special Cat of the Day!!! :D

I am really besotted with domestic cats, and generally like them all. But some things about Lucy's pictures and your story about her really got to me. I just melted with affection, even over the Internet.

I recently lost one of my two elderly cats, with whom I am/was intensely bonded. He attained 17 years. He was my best friend, and my most kindly nurse. Just as you and Lucy, Sasha and I had our songs. I still sing to his picture on my computer monitor and still never retire for the night without saying "Goodnight, Sashymo". Your attitudes and routines are so similar to mine with my own cats that I feel a genuine kinship with you and Lucy.

It really is a "mixed bag" when a precious and beloved cat companion ages and declines. I feel it acutely in everything you wrote in Lucy's profile: there is a background melancholy there, ameliorated by Lucy's continuing presence.

Lucy is, of course, a very beautiful cat, and one can readily see how well you have cared for her. I fell for her myself, at once. That face!

Thank you so very much for having shared Lucy's pictures and story. It has meant a lot to me.

What a beautiful girl you are. It is obvious your relationship with your Mom is so close. 19 is a great age for a cat to achieve. Your Mom is definitely taking super good care of you. I hope you have many more years together. God Bless you both.

Oh Lucy, you beautiful girl! Such a sweet face and soft eyes. How could anyone think that you're "just another cat"? First of all, there is no such thing and most importantly, you're an exceptional beauty and you don't look a day over 6 or 7 years old. Enjoy your day as COTD, pretty girl.

Greetings dear beautiful Lucy! Happy Cat of the Day to you, sweet baby girl! "Just another cat?" NO WAY!!! You are one in a million, a Cat of a Lifetime; a beauty in body, in heart and spirit...that indomitable "Lucy spirit!":) I can hardly believe you're 19 years young, Lucy! You look as bright as a penny, and half your age, with those sparkling green eyes and thick, plush coat! And though you may be slowing down just a tad, becoming a bit hard of hearing, it's clear you haven't let the passing years keep you from enjoying life, and your Mommy, to the max! You and she have forged one most amazing, unbreakable bond of love and trust over these many years, a love story for the ages, and I hope for you and she many, many more happy, peaceful, carefree years together! And as others have said, that photo of you and your Mom is beyond heart melting!:)
Thanks for ending my day with a big smile and warm heart, sweetheart. Wishing for you and your dear Mom, a very special day celebrating your much deserved day of honor, and many more happy, carefree, peaceful years of shared love and devoted companionship!:) Love and hugs and little kisses to you, beautiful Lucy!!!:love::love:

Wow...when I saw your face, that's all I could say...wow! You are one beautiful cat...such a sweet face, green eyes, and dilute tortie coat!
(My Dust Bunny could be related to you - lol)!
I'm glad that you are still doing pretty well at nineteen years of age...and you have a good pet parent who is making sure that you get the meds and care that you need!
I hope that everyday is COTD for you, Lucy!:love::love:

Lovely Lucy, I confess, I cannot be impartial to your lovely face and story today. You see, I believe you have a sister in Ellicott City named Pinot! ;) You have so many similarities in coloring.

In any case, thank you for sharing your beautiful self and story with us today; you're a wonderful and deserving kitty of the day! Have a fantastic celebration this evening with your adoring Mom!

Dear Lucy and Lucy's Mom: Everyone that has written so far has said all that I could about your lovely pictures and touching story of an affectionate interspecies bond. Every cat is a TREASURE, unique to himself or herself, just waiting to be opened, and for us to open our hearts to his/her love, and for us to take him or her into our open arms. I loved what one person said about a cat being a nurse. IT'S TRUE!!! I would not be here today if not for my darling RB Julie, who came to me at a very dark time and literally healed me of so much pain. I used to say, somedays I am her mommy and somedays she is mine! And my Chloe keeps me in purrfect health with her loving purr, conversational meows and hilarious antics. CATS ARE THE BEST! Long may you live, Lucy! Much love to you and your meowmie from

i was wondering if you might sing her favorite 'sunshine on my shoulders' song anyways even though lucy has lost most or all of her hearing. i wonder if, though she cannot hear you, she would feel the vibrations of your singing, especially if she is a snuggly kind of kitty who could be near your throat and chest when you sing.

she's lovely. she reminds me of my first kitty, who was one of the best cats ever.

best wishes to you and dearest lucy!
