Gee - and we only stocked up on some extra bottled water. This sounds much more appealing. :D

Hee hee - welcome to the area of the world where the weather is way more interesting! ;)

Best part of a storm where you lose power? Needing to eat all the ice cream before it melts! I will have a root beer float, please!

Latest predictions (guesses, totally) is that Irene may go visit Lady's Human instead of me! It'll be interesting to see what really transpires, but it always is!

This could be the worst flooding in the Northeast since Floyd in 1999. I think I need a hurricane (the kind in a glass.:D)

Hey Richard, LH wants to know if we will be following the hurricane with a mudslide. Both sound good to me. I'll start with a Hurricane drink followed by a mudslide chaser.

I just found our (according to the local rag) that I'm "bracing" for irene?

I didn't think I was bracing for anything, just another weekend. Gas for the generator is a constant (we live in the boonies, trees down wires with amazing regularity), so we really don't need to worry about food going bad, or water (well water) or cooking ( we have a gas stove anyway).....I don't understand this "bracing" deal.

I guess I 'll have a hurricane or three while I'm bracing.

Unless they're talking about splicing the main brace, in which case I'm IN!

...sigh....

"Major Hurricane Irene is bearing down on the East Coast and will be unlike any storm residents from North Carolina to New England have ever seen."

This is from the WEATHER CHANNEL, not some off their rocker reporting organization. They're saying it will totally surpass Floyd (which I vividly remember from 1999). I'm really NOT looking forward to this.

As far as provisions? The wine cellar is full-180 bottles strong. I think we'll be OK. ;) Wine and....let's see, what do we need to eat from the 'fridge...CHERRY CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM!! On the bar!:)

I'm headed for your house, Maggie. Your liquid provisions sound much more interesting than my bottled water, juice, and soda!

Even though it is only 9:07 a.m., I need one of those hurricane drinks NOW. What a day, what a week!

Daughter off to college, a last minute gal. Yesterday...I need books mom. LATER she calls...I got a parking ticket mom. I need a parking permit. This is her 4th and final year AMEN! I am traveling to see her this weekend and some things straightened out. I love my child, I love my child, I love my child...

Yes, one of those mudslides for later too. Then we can all go outside and slide around in the mud for real. :p

We are just expected to get 35 mph winds here in Pennsylvania with some rain, less than an inch. Hope they are right.

Everyone be safe!

Well like LH said, the paper says we're "bracing" for the storm. I know we had several hurricanes over the years in MA where I grew up but I only remember Gloria and think that's because we were several days without power and they kept playing "Gloria" by the Doors and the song by U2 on the radio. The wood boxes are full, we have fuel for the generator the deep freezer has extra bags of ice in it. Bring it on! I'll have another hurricane with a mudslide chaser please barkeep! BTW, did you find that earthquake recipe yet?:D

Richard,

Some of each please. I should have some sort of food to go with all this alcohol otherwise LH is gonna have to pick me up off the floor. *stagger-hobbles to the couch by the fire* I think I'll just sit right here with my feet up and enjoy those goodies so I don't fall over.

Sorry Lady chocolate is not good for puppies but here is a piece of a blond brownie that LH made. Anyone else want some?

Only if it's one of my "special" brownies ;)

Pour me something tall and strong
make it a hurricane - before I go insane
.... I don't care
.... It's 5 o'clock somewhere

I don't know about "special" brownies but they sure taste good.

Careful Orc, your knocking that broom against my cast. Thanks for cleaning up the crumbs.

Come on over, Ellie! Bring the pups-it'll make Pinot's life ever more interesting. ;)

I'll even stock the bar if y'all want some - we have a good selection of dry red and white wines as well as some port style. Order up!:D

Good grief, I wouldn't do that to poor Pinot. She'd probably never speak to you again. It's one thing having doggie friends at a distance, but up close and personal???:rolleyes:
Sparky would love it tho - he loves kitties (except the ones that reside in his house), but Myndi - well - she tolerates them if she has to.

Good news maybe - Irene appears to be losing some huff and puff, and may only be a tropical storm by the time she gets to NY too. Somewhat of a downgrade here too. Whoo-hoo!!!!

Goodnight Irene. Go to sleep and don't wake up! :p:D

I'll have a glass of a nice dry white wine please.
