My little man seems to be fine but his head, spine, and hips are starting to jut out. Still can't feel his ribs and according to the scale he's 10 lbs, but I just don't know. I wouldn't think a cat would starve itself, but that's what it appears he's doing.
I free feed dry but he either won't touch it or picks at it. If I give him tuna or wet food, he'll eat but won't finish the bowl. Crunchy treats he'll eat.
He is drinking and using the box and I've found nothing alarming in the box.
So he's off to the vet tomorrow at 10am. Hoping nothing more serious is going on.

Prayers for Logan. Maybe it's a tooth thing? I hope it is simple and treatable.:love:

Good luck on the vet visit. I was thinking a sore tooth, as well.

I also think that it might be his teeth. Good luck at the vet tomorrow and I also hope that it's nothing serious.

Prayers headed out for Logan... hope there is nothing wrong other than maybe some old age setting in. HUGS!!!!

Logan ate a little wet food tonight. It appeared like he was rolling the food around in his mouth, so I think you all may be right on the tooth issue.
He's currently just a purring away in my lap as I type this. He's such a lover now. :)

Logan was so good at the vet. This is the first time he's ever seen this vet and she was very nice.
Logan's mouth and teeth were in great shape. His blood work came back great as well. I'm to feed him wet food twice a day and he goes back in a week. If he's still losing weight, the vet said it's most likely a thyroid issue.
If he starts gaining weight, he simply is being picky about the dry food. :p
His current weight is 9.75.
Thanks for all the good thoughts!

I'm glad to hear the tests came back clear. Hopefully Logan will get
back to eating on a regular basis.:)

Yay! Glad to hear the good news, and that his mouth is in great shape. It's always hard, because cats don't necessarily communicate as well as we'd like!

Thanks! I've seen him eating the dry food multiple times today. I think he's hoping it'll keep him from having to go back to the vet. lol! :)

Logan's follow up visit is today at 5:30. Hopefully he's gained some weight.
He was eating a half a can at first but the last 3 days both have only ate about a 1/4 of a can each or have just picked at it. Oiy cats!! :p

Isn't it typical - the cats we want to gain weight don't, but the cats we want to lose weight seem to gain it instead! Good luck at the whitecoats, Logan!

i'm glad Logan is putting the weight back on. I know how frustrating weight issues are in cats. I have the "two cats with weight problems" scenario at my house. Ming is 22 lbs. and I have him on a healthy diet, but he won't lose weight for anything. Mac can get bony so I get ready to take him to the vet and then he suddenly starts to gain weight. He always eats well so I don't think it's teeth. He puts weight on sometimes, so I don't think it's thyroid. He's happy, active, doesn't drink or pee too much or too little, and always has a great appetite. I think he just likes to worry me!
Keep up the weight gain, Logan!

Another follow up today. :)
Zam was supposed to have her kidney values re-checked, but they couldn't get any blood from the 'granny veins' in her leg. They tried her neck, but she wasn't having any of that. ;) Since her values were normal last time, we're just going to leave her be. The vet said she could tranqualize Zam, but that would be just unnecessary stress when she's overall healthy. The first time her kidney level was elevated, it wasn't that high, hence the second follow up where it was normal. It was likely she had a cold or something.
Logan lost some weight. He's now 10.5 lbs. Not sure if we're dealing with a thyroid, kidney, or other issue. He goes back in a month for another weight check. If he has lost more weight, then we're going to have his blood sent out to test his thyroid values first. His breathing and heart rate are normal.
We suspect a lot of it is just old age, but if it's the onset of something going on with his thyroid or kidneys, we want to catch it as soon as possible. :)

I hope Logan gets a clean bill of health. Weight loss can be puzzling. Mac has lost a couple of pounds in his old age (he's in his teens now), and the last time he was at the vets he was fine. If he loses any more weight I will get the money to take him to the vets somehow. Right now he is holding steady, even gaining a bit. He's the most playful and active of my cats so maybe he is okay. Anyway, I'm keeping Logan in my thoughts and prayers.

Wouldn't you think that they would have found out about kidney problems already- that is so easy to diagnose. 10.5 lb is really a very thin kitty- I hope you find out what' s going on.
All the best for your little boy.

Logan's back to refusing food these past couple of days. :(
His appointment for a weight check is this Friday, but I'm going to call the vet tomorrow morning and see if they can get him in Monday evening.

Logan lost a pound. He's back down to 9 lbs.
I caught him sneaking some pieces of kibble (he must of known what I was planning... ;)) when I got home from work, so to get the most accurate blood tests, he's fasting for the next 24 hours.
He gets his blood drawn tomorrow at 5:45 pm.
He'll have the basic test done (which was normal last time), and his thyroid, kidney's, and pancreas checked.
Hopefully we can figure out what's going on with him.

Logan was so good at the vet yesterday.
His basic blood panel will take 24 hours. His thyroid profile, TLI, & PLI will take a week and a half. So now we wait with fingers crossed for good news. :)

Logan's blood tests for his thyroid and pancreas came back. Both were negative so that's a good thing. :)
However, 3 of the 4 panels from his thyroid test were actually below normal. So it's indicating that something IS wrong, it's just not his thyroid.
The vet said it could be anything from Inflammatory Bowel Disease to a tumor in his intestines.
Since Christmas, he's been eating again (with gusto I might add), and he's had no vomiting or diarrhea. Because of this, the vet just wants me to monitor him and bring him back in February for a weight check.
Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious that can't be treated. :)

Thanks for keeping us updated about him.:) I know that in Storm's case my vet had to do another type of thyroid test because the regular type came back as a high normal. My vet then did a free T test and the results from this test did show that he does have hyperthyroidism.:(
I hope that whatever is causing health problems in Logan will either just go away on it's own or can finally be identified and can be easily treated. Lots more prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way.:)
