Wow, what a gorgeous tuxedo!!!(Although we can't see the white parts, I take your mom's word :) :) ) Even if you weren't a tuxedo you would be just as beautiful as a black cat. You want to make me get a black kitten. I am sorry for you that you have been declawed(a horrid thing really) but now you found a loving family, I wish you a happy 20 or more years with them. Congrats for being COTD.

Cookie, you are just darling. I'm so glad you have a happy home of your own now. Hopefully you'll be purring soon -- one of my cats did not purr for a quite a long time after she was hit by a car in our driveway. When she started again, she had just a little tiny purr for the rest of her life (Iris lived for about 9 more years).
Wow what a great picture! Congrats to your humans for capturing that pose. You are a beauty! You have stolen the hearts of your humans and I am so happy to learn that your new daddy has once again found the ability to love yet another cat! Of course with your sweet ways, how could he not? It sounds like you are in for a wonderful 'rest of your life' for sure! Congratulations beautiful Cookie and enjoy your day of fame because you are our Very Special Cat of the Day!

Cookie, you are such a beautiful kittycat!!!! I am so glad you have a forever home!!!! When Valentino, my black cat, came to his new home with me, he didn't purr at all; I thought maybe he'd forgotten how to purr or even had never learned. The first person who had adopted him had died, and Valentino had been abandoned at about one and a half years old. It took several months for him to feel safe and to trust me; at first, he hid most of the time. Then slowly he began to do happy-cat things. The first time he jumped up on my lap, I was really excited. And the first time he purred for me, I cried. Now, he purrs constantly. :)

Congratulations Cookie! What a wonderful picture of you and what a sweet kitty you are, too! :) I'm very impressed with your beautiful eyes and your shiny black fur. Have a wonderful day today and see if you can get some extra chicken. ;)
Edit: my cat, Nutley, who lived to be seventeen, didn't purr for the first four years of her life. And then one day she started purring as if it were no big deal and couldn't understand why I was so excited. :D

Well, I had to read posts on both threads this morning...those of you on this side, don't miss Frostfrog's "story" about "Cake" a Cookie lookalike on the other thread for Cookie!
Cookie - you really are PURRRRFECTLY BEAUTIFUL!!! The photo is wonderful...maybe your humans could post another one today to show us your "tux" white!
Of course you won over the heart of BOTH your humans...you could melt anyone! Your bright eyes are fascinating, and I too remembered a previous baby of ours, our Ebony, who was all black, but in her younger years had that bright-eyed happy cat lookjust like yours! I guess we reflect on her frequently here, as she was an early Cat of the Day for us... http://catoftheday.com/archive/1998/October/27.html
Bless you, sweet Cookie, and I hope you will bless your caring humans with purrs someday...for it is a most wonderful sound that all of us furrbaby lovers find totally addictive.
Many noserubs, snuggles and purrs, sweet girl...Bari and the Pride
Oh,Cookie your such a beautiful cat!! Congrats on getting COTD!!

You are a beautiful cat even if you don't purr. I would love it if your owner would pop in here on Pet Talk and show us some more photos of you Cookie the purrless tux kitty!
Maybe she will get her purr back if you really spoil her today in honor of her Cat of the Day status!:)

WOW! Hello Tuxedo! I know why your name is Cookie, cause you are an OREO!!!! I sure would like to see more pictures of you...like maybe four or five dozen, to start. I don't think Mom and Dad have to worry about purring. There are plenty of other ways to express your love. My boy, Tex, is a very silent purrer. Sometimes, I have to touch his neck to 'hear' the noise. Then, I have Tennie- he is like a PM- a purr machine! I hear him coming around the corner! He makes the house vibrate! So, see, everything in between is just fine and dandy. Congrats on being our very best COTD.

I also adopted a cat who didn't purr at first. Your vet is right - Cookie will purr eventually. My puss-puss started out very slowly - only purring first thing in the morning, and even then we had to strain to hear it. Over time he warmed up and now he has a jet-engine purr that starts before we even touch him.

Cookie
I bet you look like an Oreo Cookie with your black and white coloring don't you? I'm so glad you found a wonderful loving family. Being in the wild with no claws is a dangerous thing for a kitty. Hard to hunt and no protection. How lucky are you that you found a new forever home! Congratulations on being our special Cat of the Day.:)

Okay, I'll show my age here, but even before your picture appeared and just your name showed up I started chanting, "Cookie, Cookie, lend me your comb...".
What a sweet cookie you are. It's a pleasure to celebrate you on your special day. Hope you get lots of loving and that you start to feel secure enough to purr very soon, sweet Cookie!

You are the sweetest Cookie I've ever seen! I love those white whiskers on your black fur. And those green eyes are to die for! Cookie, you have a special talent for healing humans with hurting hearts. You are beautiful inside and out. Happy COTD to you!

They say purring is a type of communication for kitties, I bet Cookies is good at some other types of communication. Juni is lousy at fawning upon my legs, I know so many cats that do it 1 million times better than her.

We got our "Diva" from the Humane Society nearly 7 years ago and she just started to purr in the past couple of years. She remained so afraid of everything for such a long time, but she has finally relaxed and let herself purr. We've been very patient and we scratch under her chin, give her treats and speak to her in loving tones. She still hates being picked up and will not stay if you try to sit down while holding her.
I think all cats will eventually purr, once they feel completely safe. Purring is an involuntary reaction, so don't be offended - she's not withholding. She may just need more time and love in order to become completely calm.
BTW, our Diva looks just like Cookie - sleek, smart and beautiful! Congrats on your gorgeous Cookie! Lucky kitty!

As usual, I studied my Cat of the Day at work, so couldn't post my appreciation. But here it is, Friday night, and I can't let it slip by without letting you know what a sweetie you are and how much I enjoyed seeing you on my screen at work yesterday (yes, I "wallpapered" with you!) Many happy treats today, too, and headbonks from a distant Tuxie cousin, Grasshopper!!!
