WOW!!! 120 pounds of love, loyalty and companionship. I do not want to know anyone who would leave this fine specimen of an animal on the road to suffer and die for fear of accepting some responsibility for him. I am sometimes ashamed of my fellow humans who do not have enough compassion to aid an injured animal, be it a dog or cat or some other species. What if it they come across an injured orphan child...will they leave it behind without help? Sadly, those who would leave Atlas behind would do the same to another person if they would have to assume responsibility for them.
Happily, you (Atlas' Dad) were there and did the right thing. For that I am grateful and I commend you for doing so. Little did you know at that moment that you were connecting with a lifelong buddy. What a fortunate day it was for both of you. That handsome pup will never forget what you did for him and he will be bonded to you for the rest of his life. I hope you guys, along with the rest of your family, have a ball every day and I'm sure you are doing exactly that. What a great DOTD we celebrate today.

What a lucky dog Atlas is that you were there when he needed help most. I'm sure he is worth his sizeable weight in gold to you now, and I wish you a long happy relationship with this beautiful creature.

Dear Atlas ~ Congratulations on being Dog of the Day. You really hit the jackpot with your new family.
Who is your silver kitty buddy? When I saw his/her photo, I gasped as they look so much like my sweet Halo.
I hope you have many happy and healthy years.

Hello, What a heartwarming story because of Atlas' rescue... not heartwarming for those people who turned their back so to speak. I bet if Atlas could talk he would say to you "Happy Father's Day, I love you". Wow! He is BIG, isnt he? I'm more of a fan of little to medium sized dogs but Atlas you seem so very friendly and gentle. I hope all of you have many years together. Congrats on being DOTD!

A very happy Dog of the Day to you dear, precious Atlas! Oh, what a beautiful boy you are, Atlas; a 120 lb. gentle giant of a pup, a pup with a heart of pure gold! Your feature photo is simply precious, and looking at that sweet, love filled face of yours, it's hard to believe how any human being could refuse to come to the aid of an animal in such dire need. In the end, even your former "family" refused to take responsibility for a supposedly cherished member:( But thankfully your hero/guardian angel, your Daddy to be, was on the scene that fateful day! And while it wasn't easy, getting you the urgent care you so badly needed, your Daddy perservered, and when all is said and done, your story couldn't have had a happier ending! As your Dad has said, the third time was definitely the charm!:) It is so reassuring, knowing that there are kind and caring, truly selfless human beings such as your Dad in this world, and how blessed you all are to have found your way to one another. Indeed, a higher power was at work that day!
I'm sure this Father's Day you Atlas, are feeling so grateful for having been blessed with a forever family, a Daddy as special as yours! You and he both are so deserving of being honored here today, and I hope for you and him, for your entire family (the kitty crew too), a very special day of celebration, and a lifetime of shared love and companionship!
BIG hugs and sloppy kisses to you magnificent, beautiful, precious Atlas!!!:love::love:
P.S...Great thanks to Dr. Moulton, and all the folks at Kimberly Pines Veterinary Hospital, too!:)
Wow...this story had a harrowing beginning and a happy ending...!!!:)
I'm so happy for Atlas and his new loving family...Providence worked perfectly in this case!
Have a great DOTD, Atlas! You sure do deserve it!:love::love:
Atlas is magnificent, and so is your whole family! Nice to know there are other sane people in the world. I don't look for injured or lost animals but they seem to find me. My husband tries to be a hardass but he"s even more open hearted than I. I'm so glad Atlas is dog of the day  We love you and Atlas and your whole family. Peace and love :D:D:D:D:D:D:p
