Anyone have any experience with the Feliway defussers?
Abby is having trouble adjusting to Aly being the newest member of our gang. Our vet today suggested using this product.
I am also going to dose her with Rescue Remedy more often than I have been doing of late.

I don't, but search it on this site - lots of information!

I used it to help Edwina accept Eddie. It worked...okay - sort of worked! I plugged it in in the two rooms where they spent the most time. That was the biggest problem for me...finding an enclosed enough space.

I haven't used the diffusers, but used the spray itself. The vet told me to spray it in an area where my cat spent a lot of time (not to spray on the cat directly), such as a sleeping area.
That didn't work well, so I got a very stretchy cat collar and would spray a tiny bit into the collar twice a day. You need to depress the spray very slowly and carefully to do that, but it's easy enough.

I have used it a lot in the past. I find it works well. I have a small house, and would plug in 3 or 4 for best results. Look online for some cheaper alternatives than the vets office or pet store.

I used several and my pee cats peed directly on the diffusers, which is why I started them on Clomicalm.

I always keep a spray can in the house. The diffusers I find, don't work as well as the concentrated spray. Bad @$$ Buddy had a behavioral issue when he first came to my house. He had been in 7 homes in a year and was confused about where he belonged. One full spray in the bathroom and he never peed anywhere again, but the litterbox!!!
Catty1,
I never thought of squirting a little bit on the collar. Great idea!!!

Collar spraying great idea. They actually have a collar that releases slowly the product. Spray would be way cheaper. If it will help her adjust to the gang of 5 plus two dogs it's money well spent.

A couple of years ago, I was picking up some more from my vet, and he told me that the patent had expired on Feliway - meaning it was half the price it used to be! You can order it online inexpensively also.:)

I ordered from Revival and got it for $12.95 (spray) plus shipping which was way under what Petsmart & Dr's Foster/Smith were selling. It does pay to shop around :)

FYI
I spoke with manufacture of Feliway. You can NOT put on a collar. :(
They do have $10 off coupons for the diffusers on their site.

Catty1 has been doing it safely for quite some time. Many vets also say that Clomicalm is for dogs and shouldn't be given to cats but my late vet recommended it to me for my pee cats and my present vet agrees that it's safe. My pee cats have been on it for 6 years now. However, if someone is too afraid to give the spray/collar or Clomicalm a try, then they should trust their feelings. :)

I think the manufacturer was worried that people would use a full spray, and get not only the collar, but the cat's fur as well. And yes, it should NOT be sprayed on the cat.
With a little practice, you can do a slow squirt so it doesn't spray all over...you might even want to remove the collar, shake the bottle and put a wee squirt in the collar, then put it back on the cat.
My vet loved this idea...and I did it with Oscar for over a year, with no ill effects whatever.
I think the key is to squirt, not spray, the Feliway. But by all means, do what makes sense to you. This is only my experience. :)

So far I've sprayed the two chairs upstairs and little corner of swim coverup that Abby has decided is a good blanket for her to sleep on in the walk in closet.
Since spraying, Abby has been hanging out on the blanket on top of storage box instead of hiding in back of my closet behind clothes.
Not sure how Aly is reacting to spray, I do know she hasnt made anyone mad this afternoon or evening. :)
