Heyoka went to see Dr. Candace last night. He had the staples taken out of the incision in his neck. All appears to be healing well He's licking the IV site a bit too much, but leaving his neck alone.
Candace cleared him for increased activity. Thank goodness....I was having some trouble convincing him that he couldn't run and play! We'll have to build his stamina back up. I just started running again too...we'll do that stamina thing together! We stopped at a campground on the way home for a little off-leash romp. Heyoka was one happy malamute! He's always been the rare mal who is trustworthy off-leash, but it's been a long time since he had any stamina for playing.
Most exciting, for Candace anyway....for the first time ever, she could hear Heyoka's heartbeat! Previously his respitory sounds were so loud she could not hear his heart at all. This time, no breathing noise , just a strong, steady heart beat!
