My poor Siamese boy was up half the night with constipation. He was vomiting the white foamy stuff we all know so well and just seemed listless. After a couple of hours he had a fairly good sized bm, (missed the box but he's a big guy and I didn't really care at that point). After he did that, he ate his dinner and drank some water, all good signs. But, this morning he seems listless and wasn't following me around the house while I got ready for work. I have my son at home watching him and if he doesn't become his usual playful self by the time I get home tonight, he is seeing the vet tomorrow. Please keep a good thought that he will not have to go to the vet, that stresses him out so much just going there, can you imagine how he will react to an enema? :( Thank you all so much!

Ming is in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.
Have you tried canned pumpkin? That usually helps with constipation and I always keep a can on hand.

If he isn't any better tonight when I get home, I have canned pumpkin in mind. I will also be taking the dear boy to the whitecoats if he hasn't improved any.

When this happened to my RB Pidge, oftentimes a subQ treatment would help w/the nausea. She did need an enema a couple of times, though, and she felt so much better. I hope Ming feels better w/o having to go to the vet.

I'm sorry to hear this.:( I hope he feels better soon and it's nothing serious. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Storm was also not himself on Monday but now he's back to normal.

This morning, Ming was still in his bed and wasn't socializing with anyone or eating, UNTIL I made the vet appointment. He came out to the living room, ate, drank, and wanted to be petted. I still wanted him checked out, so off to the white coats we went! Turns out he's in great shape. I mentioned not seeing any urine in the litter boxes and the vet asked me if he was drinking a normal amount. I told him yes, and that Ming had eaten this morning, too.
They checked his bladder, empty. They took his temp, normal. He had a dental exam as long as we were there in case it was a sore tooth bothering him, perfect teeth and gums.
So, we took him home and my son is watching him. Why do they drive us crazy lilk this?:rolleyes:

Well I'm glad to hear that he checked out okay at the vet and that he's now feeling better.:)
After I read this thread this morning, I kept thinking that maybe his problems were from a food change. I do remember you saying that since you couldn't buy any more Wellness canned food, that you were trying some other brands of canned food. I've also tried some various canned foods on my cats and some work and some don't. Storm has a very sensitive tummy these days so I have to stay with what works for him. So far Wellness canned and some of the Natural Balance Limited Ingredients canned have worked. They like the Chicken & Green Pea but it's hard for me to find it so I've been feeding them the Salmon & Green Pea and they all love it.
How old is Ming? I've also found that food that just contains a lot of protein will make some cats constipated. This used to happen to Storm when I was feeding them the 95% Innova Evo canned formulas along with the Innova Evo dry. The Wellness canned also have squash and other fruits and vegetables in it so it helps to keep Storm's bm's regular. I hope that Ming will continue to feel better and do well. Good luck.:)

Thank you all for your kind, caring, responses. KAK, I only had him off Wellness for about 2 days. He is used to eating a variety of wet food. I feed him Royal Canin (he loves this food!) Wellness, Nutro Natural Choice, and Merrick Before Grain. Ming is picky, he's a cat after all, and eats these choices some days and other days NONE of them are worthy of a taste. So, I keep his dry very consistent. He eats either Blue Wilderness Duck or Solid Gold Indigo Moon. He loves both of these and has been on them for some time. My guess is he just got some sort of stomach bug because he never really stopped eating or drinkng, he just got lethargic and isolated himself. With his history, this is enough for a vet visit. I am so happy my big boy is fine now. He weighs in at a hefty 21lbs, 10 oz. THAT"S a big cat! His teeth are fine, his heart is fine, so I guess he was just under the weather for a couple of days. Again, thank you everyone for caring about my sweet Siamese boy.
