I have a male white lab, and he is very food aggressive and very territorial. I just got a Rhodesian ridge back male puppy. The lab checked the puppy because he kept biting his ear. Then for a while the puppy left him alone. They started to play very nice together until earlyer this evening when the dog attacked the puppy for no reason. i dont know what to do The Lab may be jealous. Any suggestions on what to do?

How long have you had the puppy? Do you feed them together or separately? Is the Lab neutered? What was happening right before the "attack" and what did the "attack" consist of? How old is each dog? Have you done obedience training with the Lab?

I think Karen covered all the questions!
Don't leave them along together, EVER!

Yes don't leave them alone ever that's a mistake i am paying for right now even if it was for 5 min these 5 min could change a lot of things take it from someone who just lost a dog because of that!. Good luck with your dogs.

agreed! don't leave them alone. But, in my opinion, dog's rarely get "jealous" the way people do. They have more of a domination/submissive relationship. Your white lab being food aggressive, sounds like he is in the dominate role. Depending on the aggressiveness of the attack, he might just be asserting his dominance. If you are dominate over the white lab, let him know that the new puppy is welcome in the family.
