I know most of you don't have time to log on and vote online. You can also TEXT a vote everyday. Please take 2 seconds and text a vote for Griffin Pond Animal Shelter by texting 103840 to 73774.

They are very close to winning 50,000 from Pepsi and will use all the money to provide free spay/neuter surgeries for pets of people who wouldn't otherwise do so due to cost.

Spay/Neuter is one of the major solutions to the Pet Overpopulation problem.

You can also vote online IF you want: www.refresheverything.com/savethepuppies

NORMAL TEXTING RATES APPLY (no cost for texting plans, 10cents per text if you pay for each text)

Thanks!!

Spay/Neuter is certainly one of the major solutions to the Pet Overpopulation problem and cudos to them for wanting to help. :)

I'll refrain from texting - especially if there's a fountain nearby! :D However, I will vote online.

Okay, I have a question. Does one have to fill out that Pepsi registration form in order for the vote to count?

I don't remember, I've been voting a long time, what's the form ask for?

Thanks for the online votes and texts. Normal texting rates apply so if you have a texting plan, no charge. Otherwise, they are ten cents per text. As for the online, yes, you have to fill out that brief registration but I've been doing this for a year and I've never gotten any email from Pepsi. You don't have to put your real name or birthdate either; just a valid email. (I use my work email). Also, if you are on Facebook, you don't have to do the form. You can just hit "log on with Facebook"

Thanks so much!!!

I know a few of you are voting. Thank you! Can we get a few more? We all love animals...this is something you can do to HELP THEM as opposed to just reading about them.

1. Every day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in this country while only 10,000 people are born. It's simple math - there just aren’t enough homes for all of these animals.
2. Every year over 6 million animals are euthanized in shelters for lack of available homes. If the number were "only" 7 million, that would mean 135,000 PER WEEK, or 20,000 pets euthanized EVERY 24 HOURS. 365 DAYS A YEAR!
3. An animal is euthanized in the U.S. every 2 seconds.
4. On average, 64% of all animals taken into shelters nationwide have to be euthanized for this reason.
5. The animals at animal control shelters are not "problem" animals. The animals available for adoption have been picked up as strays or taken from the owner for abuse, or neglect. They are truly in need of a loving home and are greatly appreciative for a second chance at life.
6. At least 50% of the overpopulation problem is non-neutered males. Females can't do it alone.
7. Purebreds account for 30% off all the animals in shelters. "Papers" don't mean an animal should be bred.
8. For every home you find for an animal that you have bred, a home is lost for a shelter animal.
9. Breeding to "see the miracle of birth" demands that you also "see the tragic results". Visit a shelter and watch a puppy being euthanized for every puppy your "miracle of birth" delivered.
10. Animal overpopulation has reached a crisis point in this country.
11. 40,000 animals were euthanized in the year 2000 in Arkansas alone.

You personally can make a difference by spaying or neutering YOUR pet.

It is the single most important thing you can do to prevent animal cruelty!

Griffin Pond is still in 7th and short of a major glitch, should win the 50,000 grant from Pepsi. This grant will provide 50,000 worth of free spay/neuters for people in our community. Not sure yet if we will give out vouchers OR have mobile spay/neuter clinics where people can come. Either way, 50,000 is a LOT of animals getting sterilized which will greatly reduce the pet overpopulation problem in our area.

How will that save animals lives? If there are 10 puppies in a shelter, those 10 puppies will get adopted BEFORE any of the older dogs already there waiting for homes. NO PUPPIES? The older dogs get adopted. Simple law of supply and demand.

If someone WANTS a puppy, they can go the rescue route and save a puppy already born. Those puppies can be found at rescues on www.petfinder.com who are working with shelters in the South where pet overpopulation is an even BIGGER problem than here in the North. So...our program will even save puppies lives from the South.

So.....THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT! We couldn't have done it without you.

ONE MORE TIME..........To vote for Griffin Pond AND it's allies, go to: www.tinyurl.com/savemoreanimals13 (you get 10 votes per registered email account)

TEXT 103840 to 73774 for an additional vote for GRIFFIN POND
TEXT 104593 to 73774 for an additional vote for NO KILL LEHIGH VALLEY (our neighbors in Bethlehem, PA)

THANKS!!
