I am heartbroken to tell you that poor little Leo drowned this evening. I had gone around the corner to visit my daughter in law and got a dreadful phone call from my husband. He had taken Leo outside to relieve himself after dinner and gone back inside for a moment to do something. When he went outside again, Leo was in the pool having jumped or fallen in and gone through the ice. John pulled him out and tried desperatly to revive him with mouth to mouth and cpr but the poor little guy was not responsive. I ran home as soon as I got the call and tried to help but it was too late and Leo has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. My poor husband is so guilt ridden that he left Leo alone and heartbroken to lose him. We loved him so much for the short but sweet time we had him and he will be sadly missed. Please do not judge poor John harshly... he is a loving caring person but sadly since his accident ( head injury) is not always able to judge things well. Goodbye little fluffy friend

I am so saddened to read that you lost Leo under such tragic circumstances. I would be devastated if anything like that happened to one of my furkids. I couldn't help but get teary just reading your account of it. He was with you for such a short time, but I know he was probably loved more in that time, than some dogs get loved in a lifetime.
RIP little Leo, and peace to your human family.

I'm so sorry about Leo :(. I don't blame your husband at all. Accidents happen. My dogs have fallen in my pool at least 3 or 4 times, but luckily we've been able to get them out in time cuz none of them can swim. RIP Leo <3

First of all, I want to say that no one has a right to judge your husband for his actions, while tragic, these things happen. Even if he was there, something still could have gone wrong. Accidents happen unfortunately.
I am so sorry for your loss of dear Leo. I remember his introduction thread and how happy you guys were to have him. May the handsome little boy rest in peace. :( I am again, so sorry and I hope your husbands guilt fades soon. (((hugs)))

Rest in peace, little one. It was an accident, and no one is at fault. He was blessed with love and that is what matters. You'll see him again some day at The Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so very sorry for your loss...:(
I have a friend and the exact same thing happened to her. She was devastated. But these things happen and your husband should not beat himself up anymore than my friend did over her pup.
As someone else said, Leo probably got more love in his short life than many dogs who live into their old age.
Hugs for you both - you need them right now.

Thank you for your kind words everyone. We are so very sad today and the house feels so quiet and empty without our fuzzy little boy wanting to play and be petted.
We went to a dog rescue event this morning in a nearby town; Eight different rescues fund-raising and looking for homes for their rescued pets. I kept thinking Leo would have loved it - he was very sociable! But it made us feel incredibly sad. I hope he is enjoying himself at the bridge.

Very sad to hear about Leo. Its so hard to lose them in an accident, they're gone so quickly, but he knows he was deeply loved. Hope your husband can be at peace with this, when its the appointed time, no one can add even a minute to a life. Its just out of our hands.
Play sweetly at the RB Leo, and watch over your earthly family, they still need you.

Oh my, I am here in tears. I am so very sorry about this.
I do hope Leo can somehow let your husband know he is not to blame for this. Leo was obviously needed at the Bridge for an important reason.
Hugs to you and your husband. :(
RIP Leo

How heartbreaking. Leo had a wonderful life with you and knew you loved him very much. Accidents happen. Nobody is to blame. I'm positive Leo isn't blaming your husband at all. He's content and safe and having fun at RB. Warm hugs to both of you.
