A BIG tuxedo cat was found dumped outside the Old Saybrook Animal Control. He was crammed into a carrier way too small for him.

My friend posted a video of this love muffin. He just wants to be loved. My friend Betty offered to keep him in her garage until he can be fully vetted. Then he'll be coming to my house. I'm giving another rescue a furrever home for Christmas, like I did Murphy. I'm hoping the crew will welcome him. He'll be isolated in my room till he gets acclamated.

I'll post pictures once I get him.

Watch the video they've attached to the petfinder piece about this beautiful boy! He's a marshmallow. I just left a message with animal control. Hopefully they'll call me back. Then he can come home with me!!

Beautiful, loving boy! He will sure appreciate being in your home.:love::love:

Yes, he is a bit 'fluffy', but once your furkids get used to him, he might get some exercise - maybe from Buddy? :D

Catty1,

I was thinking in the line of Austin!! He's the wild one of the house now. Buddy has mellowed alot.

OH Donna, he is beautiful! I know I say it ALL the time, but I just love big kitties! He looks a lot like the large kitty at ARF right now, named Pierre. Except Pierre is MUCH bigger than "Xavier".
I'm so glad you can bring him home and give him the love he obviously is craving. :D

OMG! He's beautiful!!! God has a special place in Heaven for you! How could anyone dump this gorgeous, sweet, boy? Anyway, I'm sure you will both be happier when Xavier is with you and your crew.

I spoke with Kate this morning from the Old Saybrook pound. They're taking Xavier (they're not even sure if he's male or female) to the vet to be tested. She wanted to know if, worse case scenario, he tests positive for leukemia/aids, if I was on the same page as far as him being euthanized. I'm praying he's okay. I'd like to bring him home for Christmas.

Prayers needed.

If he tests positive for FIV, let me know Donna, ok?? I already have one with FIV (Honeybun), I'd be happy to provide an home for another kitty with FIV, especially a big loving tuxie!

I can't take FeLV kitties, but FIV I can do.

Oh Jen, thank you so much!!!

I called Kate and left a message with animal control and told them to call me ASAP that if Xavier does test positive, he will still have a home.

Thank you for the offer, Jen. I'd hate to see a sweet boy like that put down when a furrever home is waiting!!

I'll let you know when I hear from her.

No problem! I miss having a big tuxie boy in my home. I do hope he tests negative, just for his sake, but if he's positive for FIV, he's got a home here.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! 19 pound (yes, you heard me right) Xavier, soon to be known as Jake will have a permanent home for Christmas. He's about 8 years old and was given a clean bill of health (althought he is overweight). Negative for both leukemia and aids. UTD on his shots and neutered. He's a real marshmallow (as you can see by the video). I'm excited and have decided to make it a Ploss tradition. If I lose another cat, I'll find an oldie but goodie to take home with me.

Jen,

Thank you for your generous offer to give him a home. I was so worried about what I'd do if he was positive. You put my mind at ease. oxoxoxox

He's definitely going on a diet. Good thing he doesn't eat canned food. He's going to fit in GREAT!!!

This is GREAT news!! I am so excited! And I am also going to do as you are, when I lose one kitty I want to replace them with an older cat. That was my plan when I lost Taz, but decided a kitten was a better option for Paizly. Well, that's not so true either. But I know Jax will be fine with any age. Hopefully that is a LONG way off for me though, since both of mine are still so young.

19 pounds is a lot of kitty (but I love it!). My Taz weighed in at 21 1/2 at his heaviest. And Pierre at the shelter was over 40 and now he is down to about 35.
I can't wait to see Jake in his new home and see how he transforms when he starts losing weight. :D

You may have to remind folks "Jake" is a male, over time. As he loses weight, he may have "spay sway." LOL!

Nice to hear he will soon have his own home, YIPPEE!

I'm so glad to hear that Jake is healthy and hopefully you'll be able to get him to lose some of his extra weight.:) Canned food actually has less calories in it than dry food. My Ziggy girl is quite a large cat for a female and she's mainly on a canned food diet with only a small portion of dry to help her to not gain any more weight. Good luck with this sweet boy.:)

Just saw this Donna, welcome too our world. He is beautiful. At 19 lbs he is about the same size as Timmy. It sounds like he has the same disposition too. Got to love those big boys.
Thank you Donna

I got some not so good news yesterday. No, Jake is fine and is still coming to live with me.

My cousin's mother-in-law's cat is being returned after living with a man and his son for 2 years!!! Why??? The kid's allergic.

I am furious right now!! The guy, from what I've been told, is very controlling and didn't like the fact that Skyler was overweight. I guess she wasn't losing weight fast enough. UGH!!!

My friend Nancy is going to take her, since she doesn't get along with other cats. I've talked to my best friend Susie, who took my Dad's cat many years ago. I told her that Skylar is declawed and just needs a nice quiet home with love and food. She's thinking about it. At least she didn't say no. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The @-hole is dropping her off at Nancy's on Saturday. I hope Susie says yes.

Unfortunately, there is no way I can take her because of her hate for other cats.

Really looking forward to bringing Jake home!!

Oh great, Donna. What a pitiful excuse for a good cat to lose a home. After living with Skylar for two years, NOW he finds out that his son is allergic?! After hearing this, i'm:mad:, too!

He's settled down alot! His favorite place is on an old feather pillow coverered with his favorite throw rug in front of the radiator. Until tonight, that is. I've had the baby gates up in the doorway to my bedroom while I'm home to supervise. No hissing or growling at all. Just curiosity on all parts.

He loves Wilderness Blue. To gradually get him used to it, I put his crappy food on top with the rest Blue. He took all the crappy food off the top and ate the Blue, which is a good thing.

I think he's going to like it here.

moosmom

Okay, it's official. His name is SPIKE!! For real.

The baby gates are down!!!! I will be closing him in my bedroom with me at night for a couple of weeks. This will prevent any outbursts in the middle of the night. But I guess my cats are so used to me bringing in newbies, that they're like, "Okay, another one. Zzzzzzzzzzzz."

There is little, if any, hissing. This transition is going so much easier than I expected!!!

Spike suits him. He is so handsome! I love the big guys, too! Ming is 20 lbs and on a diet, but it is coming off of him very slowly. I hope Jake slims down faster, he's such a good looking cat!

Katldy,

I'm sure the weight will come off quickly. He's on Wilderness which is alot better than the cheap $hit the previous owners were feeding him.
