Jadie has a growth on her left eye. We spent $110 at the vet today and found out that we need to have the growth removed. It's on the lower eye area... I'll try to take a picture in a bit to show y'all. She's also got "dry eye" on that same eye.
We have to give her eye drops and an ointment twice a day. We take her back in 2 weeks (Dec 4th) for a checkup to see if it's producing any tears with the help of the medicine... if it is, we can schedule her surgery to have that growth removed... which will cost about $530.00 according to their estimate today.
*sigh* I haven't even paid off all my hospital bills from the last couple of years. I don't know where I'll get the money for this, but it needs to be done. She's such a sweetheart.

Poor little girl:( I hope that the meds do what they're supposed to.
Looks like a lot of our pets are having some sort of surgery.
She'll be in my thoughts. Please keep us updated.

Prayers for Jadie, that the tear production increases, and the surgery goes well.
What is the eye stuff you have just now? I've used Optimune ( a gel, I make a mess with it) and .2% cyclosporine which I MUCH prefer.

The eye stuff now is a gel. We have to put a small amount on her eye twice a day.
Attaching the photo of her eye. It's really dirty, in addition to having the growth on it.

Aw, poor Jadie. I'll bet the growth is uncomfortable.
I hope you can feel a bit better when I tell you that my Logan had a tear duct growth removed twice in her right eye. I was beside myself because it was a delicate surgery and may have resulted in her eye looking smaller and uneven. Thankfully, the vet did an excellent job (tears of joy) and Logan looks perfectly normal.
I too, had to use ointment 2x a day and drops. It wasn't so bad, just messy. Worse for me than Logan, I think. Worse part, the dreaded Elizabethan collar! Lots of clunks using steps and ramming into things, but she mustered the storm like a trooper!
And, everything was benign. All is fine.
It's hard not to worry, but I'm sure Jadie will be fine and as good as new!!! Lots of good thoughts coming your way.

Poor Jadie. Looks like that would be very uncomfortable for her. I hope
the medicine helps her feels better. Even having an eyelash in my eye drives
me crazy, so I can imagine how much more irritating that lump would be. :(

The eye ointment we have now I think is Neo Poly Dex or something similar. We received her 2nd Rx (the one for dry eye) and her eyes are MUCH clearer. The white part is actually white again and not pink or red.
Her follow-up appointment is on Dec 4th (this Saturday)... keep your fingers crossed that we can get in and out cheaply.
I'll continue to update when we find out the surgery date.

I'm very glad to hear her eyes are clearer. I hope the visit on the 4th goes well and that the surgery is less than you expect.
I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts.

Well, her eye is producing tears finally... so we are able to schedule the surgery!
Bad news? We have to get 2 of her teeth out as well. That bumps our price up to $748.00 - that includes removing the mass on her eye and the dental surgery and cleaning.
Gonna have to do some thinking and juggling before we can schedule her. :(

I'm glad to hear this update.
I know those dentals can be torture on the pocket book:eek:

Glad to hear her eyes are doing better. Sore eyes make me miserable all over. :( So the drops worked, that is great news!
You know it is good to schedule the dental at the same time; one anesthesia is enough, do everything needed the one time through.
Good luck with Jadie, she is a great pup!

Thanks to a wonderful PT member, I am able to pay for all of Jadie's surgery - in full. One of our PT members donated the original $530 surgery fee.
I've been in tears since the member asked me about donating. I have had my faith in humankind restored 100% - 150% is more like it - since this all began.
If the donor will allow me to say who they are, then I will. Otherwise they will just be known as Jadie's Angel.
Many blessings to all!

I have received permission to "spill" about who Jadie's Angel is... it's none other than Mooshi!
My heart is happy to know my little girl is going to be taken care of... and she and I will have a much longer time together. She's going to feel like a "puppy" again after she can see better and gets those 2 bad teeth out.
I can never begin to say Thank You enough.

Jadie has her pre-surgery blood work on Saturday and she will be dropped off Monday night for surgery on Tuesday 12/14.
I'm sure going to have a hard time sleeping without her in bed with me. But that's the only way we can get her there since we are 40 miles away when the vet office opens (more than 3 hours before they open!)

The kind people of pet talk make up for all the other cold hearted people I run across, it never ceases to amaze me.
Prayers for Jadie and thanks to Mooshie.
