Hi PT friends,
An e-mail came around my office this morning that I'd like to share. It says:
"I have been asked to let you know that a collection of items for the Hamilton Animal Shelter is going on until the end of the week. A box has been placed by the mail boxes. If you wish to help the shelter there is a list of needed items on the box for cats and dogs."
I'm happy to say the box is filling up fast with food, toys, blankets and other items.
This is such a wonderful thing to do! How great it would be for other offices to do a similar collection for their local shelter.

That's awesome! What's on the list, Momcat? I've been asking for dog and cat food to be added to t he list of "collectibles" for the food pantry my church supports. When I buy mine I always buy a couple extras to donate.

My job, along with the Toys for Tots and coat drive barrels, also now have some for local animal shelters for the first time!

That is a wonderful idea!
I wish my office wasn't so small though.

If your office is small, but in a building with other small offices, maybe you could make it a building-wide effort, with a box in the lobby?

Our local post office in town always has 2 boxes set up at holiday time - one for people and one for pets. Some of the grocery stores do too. :)

Since my "office" IS a cat shelter, I guess I can't do this!

Hi Elyse,
The list includes dry and canned food, toys, treats, towels, blankets, industrial strength trash bags and grooming brushes.
The response has been so positive that we're filling up another box!
Hi Laura,
I honestly don't know who came up with the idea. In my office animal lovers are in a definite majority

If the Shelter is open to visitors, you can still have a gift box inside for
kitties. Or maybe a donations box for $$ donations for Christmas gifts to the Shelter kitties. Towels, soft blankets, toys make great gifts.

Oh, that's a good idea. I'll give that some thought, see what other people think there. Thank you, Liz.
The shelter isn't open to drop-in visitors as such, just open by appointment. People make appointments mostly either to come look at cats and consider adopting one or else to surrender a cat. Sometimes people bring donations by.
