I just thought of something, Donna. While we were checking out the vendors at the Cat Show, could Butchie have gone off and posed for a publicity photo? This little cutie is a dead ringer for Butchie.

The funny part of the Sphynx is they LOOOOVE being held like a baby, looking at things upside down. It's one of the great traits of the breed!!

My first cat as an adult living alone, Rosie, was an Black Oriental Shorthair. A smoke tabby with the top half black and the bottom half of each hair white. From a distance she looked black.

She was as slender as a Sphynx. She could jump and sit on top of an open door effortlessly. Scared the daylights out of me. She was a tall cat but teeny. Her paws were like nickels. My friends thought I wasn't feeding her, but she was muscled nicely. She was almost preternatural.

I forgot to mention in the previous post that the picture of the Sphynx on the door reminded me of Rosie. Because of her sleek stature, she could jump the height in a single leap and perch on an open wooden door. It would scare me silly.

Cassiesmom,

She does look a little on the thin side. But I think it's more noticeable when a cat DOESN'T have fur. Sphynxes are very active cats and burn off the calories quicker than they absorb them.

Utchie is skinny and only weighs 5.4 lbs. and is small for his age. He looks like a kitten, even though he's 2 years old. I believe he was the runt of the litter.

There are MANY versions of Sphynxes. There's the Donskoy, the Levkoy, Peterbald. Someone posted the variety on FB and I was blown away!! I LOVE this breed.

Moosmom, I copied this picture from Facebook. Does this kitty have folded ears? Is it possible to breed a Sphynx cat with a Scottish Fold or American Curl cat? If you did, would you get the velvety soft skin of the Sphynx plus the distinctive ears of the Scottish Fold or American Curl? I know that some Scottish Fold cats can have straight ears. The other thing that caught my eye with this kitty is the tabby markings on her front paws, going up her arms. (I'm just using "her" instead of "it"- I hate to call a cat "it"). I think she looks like she's wearing a grey striped suit, sort of :) She's dressed for success!
