View Full Version : A big hooray for Kiri please!

I have not been posting much because I was dead worried.
Kiri's diarrhea did not get better.
And last week Orion didn't eat and began to poop stickily as well.
Me - and the vet as well began to panic: what if little Kiri had brought some FeLV from her stray times. I must confess that we didn't test it in the beginning because she was so hyper-active and happy. We felt she couldn't be so active and playful with a virus lingering in her tiny body.
But now I was worried about Orion and began to feel really guuilty.
The first good news: 2 days later Orion was back to normal- he obviously had caught a minor tummy bug and was back to devoring his food.
For Tuesday now we had booked Kiri for her big snip and decided we will test anything (including FeIV and FeLV) - plus Trude wanted to look at her little colon and pancreas.
Yesterday evening Kiri was home - and although it was a slightly bigger surgery than just the snip she was her normal fun self. She came to my chest when I was in bed and stayed there and purred up a storm.
And today we got the good news that all her tests were negative.
Her colon is irritated and her pancreas as well- but Trude thinks it will be solved with the diet.
The diet of course is the problem. Little Kiri is an accomplished thief. This weekend she stole a slice of ham with strong mustard (!) from her father's sandwich and dragged it under the bed before anyone ccould stop her. So now she has to sit in the guestroom while we eat.
But I am so happy and relaxed that it is nothing difficult. I have some new pics which I will post at the weekend- I just couldn't do it when I was so scared:)

Kiri, you stinker! Ham with mustard! ;) You are absolutely the cutest thief I know and I am so glad your problem can be corrected! Please have your meowmie give you and brother Orion some petting and hugs for me.
Edited to add: I'll paste in a photo of you because you are cute! I love your tabby markings!

Oh, I'm so glad that her tests were negative! And I hope a good kitty diet (no mustard, silly girl!) will clear up her problems quickly.

LOL, THIS more than anything tells me you have your Kiri back!
What scare you have had! What with Orion getting a bug, GEESH what timing!
Glad things are calming down at your place.

Oh my goodness, what a big scare you had! And how wonderful that all is okay now.. (except someone now has to be shut in the guestroom when the Big 'Uns are eating :)).

Oh, Kiri - just because you can snag it, doesn't mean you should eat it! Leave the ham for the humans, okay?

We are so glad taht Orion and Kirui are feeling better.
Kiri is like My Scrappy Two who sidles up to a plate , looking ever so nonchalant, and suddenly out comes that paw.
Then like Kiri, she is gone like the wind!!!
Cheese is her favorite along with Deli slices.

Oh Kiri, what a little thief! I laughed hard trying to picture you pulling the meat under the bed :D But mom is right, it's probably not good for your tummy. Anyway, I am glad you and Orion are getting better :)

Barbara- I can't remember if I have mentioned this to you or not. Have you thought of adding a tiny bit of pumpkin to Kiri's diet every day? By a tiny bit, I mean the equivelent of a 1/2 teaspoon, once a day. Canned pumpkin- not pumpkin pie filling. It is all fiber, and does a lot to bind up our pets (people, too!). Cats generally like the flavor. Dogs seem to go crazy over it, too.
I have heard that squash or any orange produce does it, it's just easiest for me to buy pumpkin. I take it out of the can and re-package it into little zip lock sandwhich bags, and take one out of the freezer if I need it. It has enough to use for 3-4 days.

I'm glad to hear that all of her tests are normal and hopefully her diet will improve her tummy issues.:) My kittens will eat anything too but I won't allow that. I look forward to seeing new pictures soon.:)
