I've had my two cats, Sweet pea and Spot since they were born. They're sisters and have never been separated. They're 7 years old now. I also have 2 labs. The cats have pretty much put them in there place because the sisters were here first. lol basically they have always stuck together and were always pretty good with using the litter box unless I was slacking that week and they let me know about it. So I purchased a second litter box. well recently they have been fighting over territory, If ones on the bed, she guards it or the couch vise versa. and won't let the other anywhere around it. and now they have been peeing and pooping in my house, when there litter box is clean!!! and Its always on an area rug!!! I had both litter boxes in the same room so I thought maybe if I move one of the litter boxes in the bedroom that way if its happening because there fighting over territory now she has options right? WRONG!!! Yesterday I come home from work and one of them crapped like 5 feet away from the litter box in my bedroom, ON THE AREA RUG!!! and honestly Im seriously considering getting rid of one or both of the cats Im just scared Im going to get rid of the wrong one. Because they both act alike. Ive tried everything I could think of and honestly the only thing that has changed is me and my husband are home more!!! I dont want to get rid of either cat. I found out I was allergic to cats after I adopted them so I have lived with a running nose now for 7 years. lol Im just out of options!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Hi and welcome to PT.:) I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your cats. I have two female cats and 4 male cats and my two females are much more territorial than my males. Cats hate change and I've also noticed that it bothers my females much more than my males. My females still hiss and growl at my two kittens and I've had them for a little over 2 months now. Since you and your husband are home more often, they may not like this change as much as think they would. My cats love it when I'm home but they also fight more for attention from me. When I'm not home, they'll sleep more and will probably have less fights with each other.
Here's a great website that tells everything you need to know about litter box problems and how to solve them:http://www.catinfo.org/?link=litterbox. I had a peeing problem a few years ago and my vet recommended Cat Attract which you can buy at Petsmart or online. It worked for me right away. I also had to put out more litter boxes and put them in different locations. Good luck.:)

Before my cat Lucy was fixed she used to pee on clothing on the floor, blankets and in laundry baskets. We bought an odorless (to humans) spray to spray things we didn't want her on and it worked. You just have to make sure to spray it every/every other day. Good luck!

Well now there accidents have moved from area rugs to clothes and behind my couches... Ive checked out your suggestions and nothing works? So what next? Now me and my husband are fighting over it all the time and I don't have the heart to get rid of them but I'm tired of dealing with the smell... My husband tells me that's cats it happens sometimes and I refuse to accept that because this was never an issue before! Someone please help solve this mystery...

Are they both spayed?
Have they been to the vet lately to rule out some underlying medical problem?

Yes they have both been fixed since before they were a year old. and they went to the vet about 2 months ago and everything was fine the vet blamed it on an attitude problem... Now I have have an attitude problem because its affecting my marriage... if you know what I mean...
