On September 1 in 1997, we launched PetoftheDay.com and had no idea if it would succeed or if people would "get it" or like it or participate. And here we are, starting our 14th year of Pet of the Day, and 13th year for Dog of the Day and Cat of the Day!

We were happy when even before the launch, a few people sent nominations, and in the first year, the dogs and cats so outnumbered other kinds of pets that we gave them their own sites. We are grateful to everyone who has sent nominations in, and encourage folks to continue to do so! Tell your friends, and fellow pet lovers!

Thanks also to everyone who is part of Pet Talk, which grew out of the wish of people to be able to talk to people whose pets were featured, and has become a community with people from across the world!

Since 2002 I have had so much fun here, although sad times, too. Best of all, I have learned a lot about cats and made some very good friends who mean as much - or more, to me than my own family. :)

I just adopted a kitten and discovered that all four feet have 6 toes each. How unusual is this. I have heard of this on one paw or both front feet, but all 4.
