Dear Pearl's mom.
I am so sorry for you. I know that there is not much I can say about that and there is not much help because we all do not know the circumstances and the reasons but at least you know there are people who understand your feelings........

Pearls Mom,
I am so sorry for your loss, but know you are not alone.
From the sound of it you are relatively young, and although it is unforunate that your parents didn't talk to you first, you have to trust your parents had good reason to do what they did.
When I was younger, my parents did a similar thing (on my birthday) and I cried for weeks and I still have a special spot for that cat in my heart. As phony as it sounds, time does heal and although you will never forget your cat, when you get older you will be able to express your love for cats and all animals in your own individual way and find a new cat that needs your love and home.

So sorry about that, but like Barbara said, I don't know the reasons - other than to say I once had to give up a kitty that I loved very much because I moved to a place that wouldn't allow kitties, and I lived with several friends at the time, one of which was very allergic to kitties.
Don't despair, I'm sure your parents saw that Pearl got a good home. Someday you will be able to have your own kitty cat. Remember your parents love you as much as you love Pearl, and I'm sure whatever reason they had, it wasn't easy for them.

Hello to you from another cat lover in San Diego! This may sound weird to you, but have you talked to your parents about how you feel? You might tell them how much it means to you, and ask them to let you know she went to a good place.
I loved my kittie Smokie when I was younger, but it turned out we couldn't have her, plus my Dad got really sick around cats. I mean REALLY sick!! I was sooooo mad when my parents gave her to a new home.
Now that I'm grown I have a cat that has been with me a long time. But when I was young, my mom let me get a lot of stuffed animals, which I still do to this day!! And I would sleep with them, believe me, even when I was a teenager, I had a bed full of stuffed animals. I still do LOL!!!! And now they make better ones that don't cost so much. Cats can be kind of expensive to keep, food and litter and vet bills and all.
I hope your young heart heals real soon!!!!!!

Same here! I'm a grown person, but as I type this, I'm looking around my office and see
1 stuffed Vermont Teddy Bear
1 Velveteen Rabbit
1 Owl named 'Mr Who"
2 Stuffed penguins
1 Eeyor the Donkey
1 Garfield the cat
1 Home made stuffed calico print cat, compliments of mom
1 stuffed black and white cat
1 stuffed rat toy, wearing a suit
1 Tigger
1 Koala bear wearing a little white T-shirt.....
oh, and a tiny stuffed Christmas bear in my bookshelf.
My mom let me have a lot of stuffed animals as a youngster....I still have them....and more---when I was little I always wanted an indoor kitty, but mom wouldn't let me bring them inside because my sister had terrible allergies - the stuffed animals really helped :)
