Oh wow I'm going to be in Michigan then! I wonder if I might be able to go to this??? I'll have to ask my mom if she wants to take a road trip. I won't have my puppies (they'll be here in TX), but I WILL have my babies, and they LOVE doggies!

Lol yes, I haven't really made an announcement yet as it's not totally official. (Have to okay with the apartment but I am allowed two dogs, and still waiting to hear if the mum is really preggo, but we believe she is) Will be my first conformation dog. We're hoping for a boy but will take either. They're due Sept. 4th. Another dalmatian.

And where at in Michigan? We're not too far from the Michigan/Ohio border :) Delta adores children. :)

so is Remy with your parents? I knew you said You thought about letting them have her. :)

MonicanHonda
07-26-2010, 11:59 AM
Lol yeah, she's lived there for about nine months now. We decided she is much happier there. They have a fenced in back yard and she basically spends all her time out there. She comes in when she gets too hot (hardly ever), it's raining hard, to sleep in the cool air, or when it is dark. Lol And they all love each other a lot... I think Remy hated us. LOL

It's official, I have the day off so we'll be there. I'm going to be leaving Bon and grumpy Roxey home. I'm sure they'll both be much happier;)

I'm pretty sure everyone that's replied knows how to get there - but if anyone new is coming, I'm sure we can get directions to them. :)
I'm swiping this from a previous of Phred's.

==================================================

If you can ADD something to the Menue -
"QUOTE" THIS (or the last & latest) post -
and "Edit In" whatever you'd like to bring.

Note:
Everything above are only "suggestions" of things that have been
"HITS" in the past ... I YOU like it, cook it & bring it --- someone will Eat it!

Note: There ARE Electrical Outlets available in the
Pavilion to power CrockPots, HotPlates, etc.

I left some of the things the same, like the paper products and the buns/meat. But if someone doesn't WANT to bring them, if its getting too $$-(if we have extra $ left over and someone wants to use that to defray the cost of the meats/charcoal/lighter fluid I certainly don't mind that at all I'm sure no one else would object either  or maybe that's already being done and I should just shut up about it! :p )
please do not feel obligated.

Should we plan on coming to GET you ??

Is Chardley available without cramping his schedule?

Have you checked with Kimmy about her plans and thoughts on trannsportatin?

WHAT Happened to the "Good ole Daze" of everyone just saying:
"SURE - We'll be there!" ... ??????????

Just sayin ... :p

There is slight change in our plans....

It is still my hope to be there, but it may just be me, Sadie and Spot. Cincy has a lump under her front leg, and with her history of cancer, we want to get it removed. The doc did take some cells, and didn't see anything other then fatty tissue at this time, but we want to be sure. Although it means her missing the picnic, we are going to have this done the Thursday before hand. I am going to work from home Friday, and then we will have the long weekend to keep an eye on her. Chances are Ralph will stay home and be nursemaid for the little girl :)

Keep your fingers and paws crossed that Sir Jury goes well, and be the spotted pups will see you in Findlay.

:(

We're terribly sorry to have to make the following Announcemet:

:(
Phred and the Three Amigos ~ Cinder, Smokey, and Heidi ~
are going to have to sit out the Findlay Labor Day Gathurin.

:(

It's been a long time arriving ... it's crept up almost un-noticed; but the
Keen Observer couldn't help noticing the onset ...

Olde Age and the ugly symptoms of multiple ailments have moved onto
The Ranch and *kicked* Ole Phred pretty hard!

First it was the Heart Attack with multiple stents and one for a Kidney.
Next the Kidneys got weak ... and now we're only a few "points" away
from needing Dialysis for outright Kidney Failure.

The ole Heart keeps trying ... but it's loosing the battle of too much fluid
and high pressure because of the Kidney problems.
Net result is ole Phred has NO Energy.
Breathing therapy has helped ... but I still do too much struggling to breathe!

And now we have a new hurdle to fight ... the old "Circulation problem"
that only bothered one foot has spread to both feet ... complete with
foot and leg swelling. Walking has become difficult.

We're gonna **MISS* all you Guys, Gals, and Pups this Sunday ...
A few PT Prayers will surely be appreciated ...
We're hoping to return for Memorial Day, 2011.

/s/ with ,
Cinder, Smokey, Heidi, and me / Phred

;)

It won't be the same without you, but we know you'll be there in spirit just the same. We love reading everyone's posts about the picnic, make us feel like we're still part of the group...and we'll be thinking of you at the ranch. We'll actually be in Erie PA on Saturday (family commitment), so our vibes won't have so far to go-- love you!

Well, I am home and ready to post pictures. We had a very nice day for the Pet Talk gathering. The weather was nice and cool today and no bugs were hanging around to "bug" us. The sun was out and it would have been an almost perfect day except that we were missing our Phred. Can you really have a Findlay Pet Talk meeting without Phred? We weren't so sure so we talked to him at least twice while we were there. We all REALLY missed him and his 3 amigos.

The first place my little Tucker headed was the swimming pool. What a silly little guy. He came out dirtier than he went in but again maybe that dirt came from rolling around in it after getting out.

Great pictures you two!

--------------------------

We got there this morning at 11:30 and wow...it was so weird to be the first one's there. We sure did miss our Phred there to greet us:( You may not have been there in person, but you were definitely there in our hearts:love:
Thanks for calling and talking to us. I wish I could have packed you up a lunch and sent it though the phone along with some hugs from us and kisses from the dogs;)

Of course there was plenty of good food (as usual!) and lots of good company. Let's see...we had me, Monica, her husband and friend, Carl, Diana & Christi, Staci, her friend, son and mother, Robin, Kimmy, Carrie & her man and TONS of locals! Oh and I can't forget the dogs...we all brought one or more:D

I took SO many pictures. I'll post a few, but here's a link to them all

Nice pictures ladies!!!

Just got home a little bit ago. Just got the dogs settled down and I'm now sitting down to see what kind of pics I got. Tori is exhausted. She slept all the way home, took a potty break before she came in the house and is now curled up at my feet sleeping again.

It was such a beautiful day and it was so good to see everyone!

Phred, you and your pups were definitely missed and I'm glad I got to talk to you on the phone. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. {{HUGS}}

Hey all! I got home around 9 p.m. The dogs are fed and are snoozing happily. :) I took a lot of photos, but my parents have dial up and so I won't be able to upload them until Tues. :o

I'm really glad I was able to go and see you all. Those that couldn't make it were most definitely missed.

I'm really proud of Kia for being a very good girl. Chipper.... oiy.... That boy thinks he's Casanova.... *sighs*

It was nice to meet you all and we had a good time :D (well, minus the last 15 minutes).
Kody is doing well. Luckily the wounds are all puncture wounds and not rips/tears. I found a few more puncture wounds on his jowls once I got him home- They went clear through to the inside, and they were actually what was doing alot of the bleeding. He's drank a couple times and they unclotted, but I kept pressure on it with the towel and last time he didn't start bleeding again. I got his antibiotic and gave him his first dose- who knows if the other dog was up-to-date on shots so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Just gotta check the wounds out a few times a day and put hydrogen peroxide on any of them that aren't on the inside of his mouth (basically just the outside of his jowls on one side). He doesn't seem sore or upset. Kody is always happy-go-lucky no matter what. I honestly think it hurt me more than it hurt him. I *really* wish I had got some info on that guy or a license plate or something before he bolted. I still can't believe that all happened. I am in overprotective mom mode. I'm watching Kody like a hawk and babying him-trying to prevent him from knocking the clots off again. Poor babe!
BUT apart from that, we had a great time! Loved seeing all the different breeds out there (and the TONS of goldens) ;)

good to hear!
that guy has been there a few times that I have been there its not his dog- its a girl that rents from him - he brings him out for her. I think he comes pretty regularly so I'm sure if Monica or you go out often enough he'll be there. He's the one that told me he saw a pit bull climb the fence and take down another dog out there. Which I didn't buy that story at all. I *think* he might have been a teacher at Findlay somewhere.

I made it home a little around 8....after stopping by mom and dads to pick up to Potato Salad and a stop to pick up dinner. Of course, I had to catch up on the race.....Way to go Tony!!

What a fun day! Spot hasn't run that much in a while (and he is now hobbling around to show for it!) and Sadie did a lot more barking then usual, but I think after awhile Kody grew on her :)

Great pictures everyone. I should get to bed...got an early morning run with a friend, but I will get my pictures uploaded and shared tomorrow.

Yeah, Kody certainly liked her. He doesn't usually do that (pay attention to only 1 dog). Usually he's so scatter brained he doesn't have a whole lot of interest in anyone, just runs with one group, then runs with another that comes close like a crazy. He usually jumps/on the tables a lot more too (and I'm always quick to say Down!). You must have a special girl to keep his attention for that long ;-) He usually has the attention span of a 2 year old. Lol. Don't worry though, I've already had the birds and the bees talk with Kody. No "dating" till he's 30 or when mommy says its ok (which won't be for at least another year).

Of course, that dog might have got ahold of a smaller dog then. At least Kody was one of the bigger ones and the attacker didn't do too much damage. Can you imagine it if would have been a little dog the mean one got ahold of? :-(

I am so sorry that happened to your pup.:( We have been there a few times and never dreamed someone would come there with a dog that aggressive. Where the park people told about the incident?

GoldenLover
09-09-2010, 08:42 AM
Yes, all the dog bites that happen at the park are required to be reported. So once I left, I called to report that it had happened. The park ranger needed all sorts of info about the other party, who had of course ran out of there the moment he saw blood. I didn't get a license plate or anything, which they wanted. I was like "Sorry, I was busy sopping up my dog's bloody mouth with a towel to think about that". lol. What's he think I'm gonna do- leave my dog to bleed while I race after the fleeing suspect? Geesh!
I go to the dog park just about every day- sometimes every other. So I hope the guy comes back eventually. I saw a black lab mix yesterday there named Buddy, but he had white on him and I don't think the dog that got Kody had any white on him. You better believe that this time, when I see him, I will get the info they wanted (providing of course, his dog isn't attacking another dog at the time). :-(

On another note, I was there yesterday and the owner of a Siberian Huskey pup came up and we were chatting. He said that earlier, there had been another dog there attacking every dog he came across and his owner just kept letting him do it. I asked if he were a black lab named Buddy and he said no. Then I named off another white Sib Huskey mix that comes around alot who also does that and he said no, it was a different type of dog. So my question to those people is this: If you have a nasty dog that doesn't like other dogs, WHY do you insist on bringing them to the dog park to use everyone else's dogs as chew toys??? Makes me so mad! If your dog isn't friendly with other dogs, take them on a walk alone. Go somewhere where interaction with other dogs isn't likely. Don't bring them into a leash-less dog park and leave them basically unattended with the 20+ other dogs that are there. Yet the same people, with the same unsocialized nasty dogs come out day after day. Makes me wanna find another dog park- but I'm sure they all have that problem to some extent. Ok, rant over. ;-)

I've been to quite a few and haven't really had this problem. Findlay has been getting progressively worse and I am sick of it. Don't worry, we will find a new one. :) I'm sick of Shadow, the one who head butts and chest bumps Delta to the ground and then grabs her neck and holds her on the ground. That dog needs to learn some new play skills. I'm usually decently lenient but that makes me extremely angry.

I called and left a message at the ranger station and &itched about the park not being all the way open and the fact we don't have to pay for it anymore that anyone can bring aggressive dogs out there without their shots. Paying the $10 a year kept the unresponsible pet owners out.

You're right. It would keep this unresponsible pet owner away.:o

oh Robin that isn't what I meant and you know it! ;)
I am not timely on Keegan's shots b/c I don't want to overdose her. But did you happen to see the 2 dogs out there that had no hair? I was worried about Mange or a contagious skin condition. :(

That was what I was thinking too. I know BG has a fee, and I would certainly pay it to help weed out some of the losers that come to Findlays with their nasty animals.

Yes, that is my only thing... I do not keep with a yearly vaccine schedule for the same reason... but I could always buy the vaccine with record and not use it :-P Oh, I'm so naughty hahahaha

And Robin you know your dogs well enough to leave them at home if you think there might be a personality conflict b/n them and another dog. Not everyone does that. I remember being there several years ago and seeing a lady in there with 4 other dogs and when she saw me coming she grabbed her dogs and asked me to stand up by the track b/c one of her dog's was extremely dog aggressive and reactive. She muzzled him before she left and she very chipper when she left and said "THANKS SO MUCH FOR STANDNING OVER THERE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!" I know all dogs need exercise but THANK GOD that lady knew her dog well enough to warn me and not let me go in and have my dog attacked.

Monica I know I told you that our park here in Upper isn't that big and there isn't a lot of other dogs but that's ok b/c I LIKE it that way. :) Keegan doesn't get overly juiced about the dog park anymore. She's content to hang at home or my parents or a friends house. And let me tell you that place is a Godsend when I watch Annie (the white dog I had that day) b/c she is used to a fenced in yard and I don't have one. And its UBER-CLOSE to me - so handy to run her down there 2-3 times a day. :) Now if I ever need a dog park to socialize a dog to several dogs it isn't ideal but to just have a place for them to stretch their legs is fabulous! ;)
I don't keep Keeg on a vaccine schedule at her age - pros vs cons really - I would like to have her titered to see if they are needed at all but when I asked my vets office about them when the vet tech asked another if we do "taters" here, I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere fast! ;)

Ohh Staci, I know, I just get to feeling so guilty sometimes and like a bad pet owner and it just came out in that post. I'm sorry about that.

Lol >.< 'taters' :) That is what I plan on doing for Delta this year. I'm calling them that from now on. hahaha

But Keegan probably does have natural immunity from her age now...

Anywho, Delta entertains herself at the dog park and will just run by herself. Lol She's rather easy to please. :) I like a few dogs to be at the dog park, but not a mass of them... gets too overwhelming, especially now because the dog park is so small. -.-

I haven't been tot he BG park in years, but it was nice when we wnt. Downside was no source of water, and only a bench to sit on., and not much shade. Positives were that it had 3 sections, and 1 had agility equipment to play on.

Toledo keep strying to get a park, but the city counsel is hesitant. They got so far as to start taking applications, then things took a step back. I didn't apply yet becuase I wasnt to make sure it is a go before I pay the fees ($60 first dog, $25 each additional). They are also at first limiting it to the first 300 people. The original place they were going to put it is a nice park, but not too far from where a lot of the pit bull issues around town are, so I think the high fees are a deterent...maybe a steep one, I think any fees would be . Anyway, that park sorta fell apart and now they are looking for a new location.

The Toledo one has a whole bunch of rules. I was just reading about them. And expensive >.> I would possibly pay it if I was closer to Toledo and would use it more often...

I heard about one in Lima? It's on like... 1165 Sheriff Rd or something like that. I want to check that one out too.

The older man I was talking to when I first got there lives in Ada and has taken his dog to the one in Lima by the dog pound. he said pretty much same thing - no water and no place to sit. But taking water is easy enough. And a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. :)

I'll go with the chair. I don't think i'd wanna set a blanket down on the ground knowing what all touches that same ground (and may still be partially there) LOL

I've really enjoyed all the photos of everyone. I've commented on some on facebook, but its great to come here & read the comments too. So good to see your pups again! They all look terrific. As do all of you - I hope we can make it back sometime for one of the picnics, it would be so fun to be there again. Because of Jack's "issues" with small dogs, we don't go to the dogpark here at all, I sure do miss it. It was one of our favorite things to do when we lived in Findlay. Star and Sherman loved it, whether they were in a crowd or just the 2 of them. Nice to see Gabby has another pup now! Thanks again for such wonderful posts.

Saw this in the paper front page on Saturday.

They are now going to charge a fee at Lansing's Dog Park ($40 annual or $5 a day). Those who pay the fee will get an electronic key card.

I was over there today, and now they have both sides opened up! It's a little crazy- kinda hard to keep track of your dog sometimes because there is a partial fence and so many places to go. But tons of room to run too

Monica and I checked out the one in Lima last week. It was really nice! Lots of seating and toys, water on site (though a little warm so many bring ice cubes) and the people were really friendly. We talked to them alot and asked alot of questions about the others that came there and it seems that their application (no fee), keeps alot of the irresponsible people out. I think that would be nice if Findlay at least had an application so you can be sure everyone is vaccinated. Also, in the case of dog bites, it would be much easier to track down people who flee to avoid facing the raft. (aka Search all applications for black labs named Buddy). They also have a couple agility things- catwalk and A-frame and a box that could be used as a pause box. We had a good time with Delta and Kody and both decided we want to go back!

If anyone is interested, there is a new facebook page up for the Dog park. I believe you can just search K9 Field of Dreams and it should pop up. If it doesn't, hit enter and you should see it.

I took Annie to the Findlay Dog Park today and was UBER excited to see they had the WHOLE THING OPEN!! YAY!
There were a bunch of dogs there today and some where more rowdy than others - maybe the cooler weather. Thankfully no altercations while we were there but I was really glad I didn't take Keegan today so she didn't get bummed up again.

Glad you had a chance to enjoy the Park - the WHOLE thing - for a change.
Wonder you didn't get *lost* with all that space! :p

How long are you going to have *ANNIE* staying with you?
Bet Somebody isn't going to want to leave Staci's Ranch! ;)

she's actually already home. I dropped her off when I got back into town. :) But you are right she didn't want to go into the crate at home. She was hiding on her mom's bed. I had to get a leash and drag her to the crate!
