YOU KNOW IT’S JULY IN THE SOUTHERN USA WHEN…
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.

I can identify with many of those lately - and this is only the mid-Atlantic area - not the true south!

I had to laugh because so many are SO right! The only place on the boat that we have actual "cold" water is at the water fountains, that steel get SO hot that even hot water comes out of the cold water faucets.
That parking space on it 100% correct also!

I can identify with a lot of these!
You know it's summer in Chicago when ...
>you don't go out because it's too hot
>you burn the backs of your legs on a hot car seat
>the Cubs are too far back in the standings to have a chance this year
>you go to a lot of movies, even the ones that got mediocre reviews, to beat the heat
>the "other" season (construction) is underway
>you start seeing mosquitoes large enough to need their own landing gear
>it's 80 out and you're sleeping with the A/C on high ... under a down comforter
>"You break into a sweat when you step outside at 7:30 AM" ... that's about right!

46f sounds so incredibly perfect I want to just cry. It's going to be 92f today in Ohio and I am so sick of the hot weather.
It's my day off and I am hiding inside with the AC blasting instead of being outside working on my flowers. This has been such a brutally hot summer. Too hot to enjoy.
Loved the jokes.

I agree with you on this summer weather. I think it's the worse we've had
in years with this unrelenting heat.:( Have to wait till the sun is setting to
get outside for yardwork.:)

More of the 90's here - will it never end??? This is the hottest summer I can remember in a long time. We had a couple of days of much needed rain and temps only in the 80's, but today the sun's back out and it's like a steam bath outside - absolutely oppressive -and same forecast for the next 10 days.
Candace - I identify with so many of those sayings, but I especially like the one about burning your hand when you open the car door, and driving with 2 fingers on the steering wheel, since I've done both of those!
You should add one to that list - you can fry an egg on the dashboard of your car! :D
Stay cool everyone.........

Loved the sayings - many apply up here in Michigan as well.
My question - if this is July, what will August be like???

""The majority of those drowned were drunk," Seryogin said. "The children died because adults simply did not look after them."
That's sad.:( Alcohol is the worse thing to drink in the heat.
