Hi All-
Here is a link in case you missed my other thread about finding a mom cat and kittens that are living in the drain outside my window at work.
http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=162019&page=2
As you might of read, I released the mom last week because we never saw her two kittens after she was trapped with her one kitten. Her one kitten came to stay with us so we could make sure he was eating right and give him some formula if needed.
Well he's been here since last Thursday and he's just been a bundle of joy. He's super cute as most kittens are. The first day we brought him here though he was shaking like crazy and was so scared. Friday he was the same way but started to make some improvements. Saturday he was much better and Sunday he was introduced to some of our other kitties such as Apollo who just turned 1 years old a couple of weeks ago and they have been playing.
He's one big fluff ball and full of energy. He is estimated to be about 5-6 weeks old. I thought I should so some pictures of him if I want to find him a forever home.
He's super sweet and I would love for someone on Pet Talk to adopt him. He's just such a love.
Anyway, here are his pictures :)

Please say major prays for Hercules. He has coccidia. We gave him some medicine last night. He weighs in at 2.1 lbs.
He ate pretty well for me this morning and I'll go at lunch time and feed him again and see what he's like. My husband is home with him today so I don't have to worry too much. He was out with the rest of our crew and I cleaned the litter boxes out but I just hope that no one else gets this.
We placed him back in our bathroom so that we can keep a better eye on him. He doesn't want to be in there and we feel terrible for making him stay in there.
Please if you could just send us some good vibes that everything will be ok and hopefully we caught this early enough.

Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear that he has coccidia.:( Some strains are harder to treat than others and yes it's highly contagious. I hope he'll recover quickly from this. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way.

I hope he recovers as well. He has been having a lot of diahhrea and I just thought it was because of the can food I was giving him. I'm worried about my other guys as well. I'm sure they won't get it but I'm worried about them.
This afternoon I checked on him, he ate a little not a lot and I just don't know...I'm so worried about him....it's hard to work right now. I tried giving him formula but he didn't take that very well.
The poor guy poops a lot....

Are you treating him with Albon? My RB Starr had a severe case when he was a kitten and he had to go through several bottles of Albon before he got better. Stress can also play a role in causing coccidia. Here's some good information about it:http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=1+1318&aid=726. Good luck.:)

No, it's a newer durg, and the one vet in town is the only one that's using it and it's suppose to kill the coccidia. If he still shows signs of coccidia in his stool today we may need to start him on Albon but I'm not sure just yet. He's acting normal now, we put him out with the rest of the crew because we didn't want him getting more upset by being separated. I've been cleaning litter boxes like crazy. Thank you for the information, I found one yesterday that gave me a lot of information quickly. We are wondering if by separating him from his mother last week brought all this on. We released his mom back out so she could nurse her other kittens. Sad to say we haven't seen her or the kittens. She might of relocated them too.
Hopefully Hercules will be strong and hopefully we can get him over this coccidia.

Sorry I haven't updated, I've been out of town since last Saturday and I'm still out of town at my sister's place now.
My husband has been keeping things calm while I'm not at home and Hercules is doing well from what I understand. He's eating, I don't know about stool situation just yet but when I get back into town either late Friday night or Saturday morning I will take a sample over to my friend who will check his stool to see if he has any signs of coccidia. Before I left he didn't have any signs or it which seemed very odd that he was cured that quickly.
I'm going to be trapping cats at my sister's place because she has 3 kittens and a mom cat who maybe pregnant and they all need a place to stay as well.
Anyone here interested??
Jenn- I sent you a message back about Hercules.
I gave Hercules this name because I feel it fits his character really well. At first I wasn't so sure and I could be jumping the gun here if he gets sick again or something but I'm hoping that's not the case. I just wanted to give him a very strong name.

This is wonderful news!!!:D I'm so glad that I guessed right.:D I also think that the name Barney would be perfect for this little boy.:) Hopefully his stool sample will be all clear so Jenn can adopt him very soon. She may still need to watch his stools because stress can also cause coccidia to return. This really is turning into a wonderful summer of PT adoptions.:)

Well as you know Jenn has her hands full at the moment with Sebastian. I might of found a home for Hercules however. My one co-worker's girlfriend wants a cat/kitten. I told him about Hercules and I hope I'm making the right decision. I think I'll know for sure when they visit with him and see how they interact with him to know for sure.
I'm so attached....but it is what is best for him. They said they do want a kitten that will cuddle but of course he will take sometime, I tried to talk them into getting 2 but since the girlfriend is still in college and not living together the guy (my co-worker) will only take in 1 plus he wants to get a dog at some point so that way they could possibly be buddies.
I told them if it doesn't work out and he just doesn't fit in I will take him back.
I guess they want to visit him this weekend and if she likes him she will take him with her for a week at her house (I believe she is with her parents at the moment) and then when my co-worker moves into his house at the end of the month and things are settled then they will bring Hercules to his house.
I just hope that he doesn't get out of the house and run away or something. I explained to them that he has been through a lot in a short amount of time but he does seem to love other cats which I am sorta sad by him going to a place where there isn't any but hopefully that will be good for him.
I've attached some photos of him I took recently while he was suckling on Apollo. Yep, Apollo's a boy but he's being Hercules mom.

These pictures sure are cute.:) When I adopted Alani & Blaze I was told that since they were so bonded that they had to be adopted together. I'm so glad that this was the case because now they have each other as playmates and they won't bug my older cats as much. Hopefully things will work out for Hercules and that this will be the right home for him. Please keep us updated. Good luck.:)

Melissa,
Rescue can be very wearing on your psyche. It's so difficult to get these babies through such difficult times only to have to find homes for them. You've done your job, and a great job I might add. All you can do now is a home visit, reference check and if all goes well, he will be in a wonderful forever home. Be proud of yourself and the work you do. Sleep well knowing you've given another orphan a great home.
Rescue is hard. Especially when you get attached. Rule of thumb is if you don't name them, they aren't yours. Easier said than done, I know.;)

Well little Hercules won't be going anywhere just yet. The more I talked with my co-workers girlfriend, she really doesn't want a kitten that isn't friendly or that doesn't like to cuddle. Hercules, isn't really a lover yet, we are working with him but as many of you know it takes time to earn their trust. It hasn't even been a month yet since we separated him from his mom.
So Jenn would you still like him maybe later on when Sebastian is healthy??

I'm so glad that you found this info out before you let them adopt him. I also think that he'd do much better in a home that already had cats or kittens in it. You can see how well he's already bonded with Apollo. Good luck.:)

Well little Hercules is still hanging around here. I think he needs to go with a home with other kittens/cats so we'll see what happens.
If anyone here would like to adopt him just pm me. :)

Are you ready for Apollo's heart to be broken when you send him to his furever home? He is attached to the baby now and is going to grieve when he is gone. I remember how heartbroken Chester use to get when I had one here and when it was sent on to it's new home it just broke Chesters heart and he grieved for days..
BUT, those pictures are so sweet of them together.. Herclues is such a striking baby.. I am glad you found out this new home wasn't going to work out, it didn't "feel" right to me the way you explained it...

I don't think I've thought about that a whole lot. Jenn was/is thinking about adopting Hercules so her new kitten Sebastian would have someone to play with and Apollo has a lot of other kitties to play with too. I do agree that Hercules is a very cute and has some striking features, this morning when I went out into the living room Ziggy and Hercules were sleeping together again, they seem to do that at night sometimes.
I've attached a photo of Hercules, Ziggy, and Apollo. I think if Jenn would like to take Hercules that would be good for Hercules so that Sebastian would have a playmate around his age to play with. I don't know if I've thought too much about how Apollo would be after Hercules would leave but I guess you would be right that he would be upset.
Thank you for posting this, it has given me something to think about.

That would be great if Jen could adopt Hercules for her other kitten Sebastian.:) I know that both of my kittens really enjoy playing together and wearing each other out. This way they don't tend to bug the adult cats too much. Apollo may be a bit sad but he has his other siblings to play with. Good luck.:)

Jenn-
I would be so happy if you would take him. Just so that way I can watch him grow up:)
He's so cute. I will be taking another sample of his poo to the vets either tomorrow or Friday depending when he poos.
They are going to do a recheck for coccidia and hopefully it will be all gone. I'm surpised he got it back when he was doing so well and he never gets sick which we are super thankful for.
Just keep me posted.

Hercules is hopefully done having coccidia. We had his poo checked last Friday and the only thing the vet could find was round worms. The vet would like to recheck his stool in 2 weeks just to make sure he doesn't develop coccidia again. They gave him pyrontal and I'll give him another dose in 2 weeks.
Early this morning I felt something licking my toe and then I felt a bite. Yep it was little Hercules. Here we thought that Apollo was bad....no I think Hercules is going to be worse.
