Why does she kick and lift her leg.

Whats the psychology behind dogs peeing? She is getting better at lifting her leg and aiming, and when she pees on another dogs spot, she grips into the ground and kicks all 4 legs out to spread the dirt, its a hysterical site and i dont care, just wondering if anyone has any links or knowledge of why they do this, me and my friends are amused... yes shes fixed.

My dogs are fixed too, kick and digs up the
dirt after they pee.
They mark/dance all over their yard and the neighborhood. :)
I believe it is to spread their scent more, sort
of marking to let other dogs know they have
been their.

She is just marking her territory. Dogs can tell many things by the smell of other dogs' urine and anal gland secretions. Sort of like how we can tell a lot about a person by their handshake (if its weak, if they have sweaty palms, etc). They also have glands between their toes that leave scent on the ground while they are kicking.
