WOO HOO! So today the 24th, Penny is 8 weeks seizure free. I have not said anything lately as it seems everytime I did she would have one and they were coming a lot closer, so my vet said if she goes 2 months he wants to see about weaning her off the Pheno and upping the KBr (Potassium Bromide) which is much better for her liver, her last bloodwork showed that her kidneys and liver were functioning properly but prolonged exposure to the Pheno can shut her liver and kidneys down. SO wish us luck on the med change.
I just wanted to share my good news, this is a big thing that Penny and I are about to do, I am keeping fingers crossed we stay seizure free. :D

I am so happy to hear this! Good luck, paws and fingers crossed for Penny to stay seizure free!
I don't know if humans are the same, but my brother used to have a lot of seizures as a child (due to a bleed in the brain). He was able to lower his dosages when he was seizure free and is now completely off medicine and hasn't had a seizure in over 15 years! Not sure if it's the same but there is always hope.
Kisses for beautiful Penny.

So on Sat. the 11th, Penny had a set back and had a cluster of 3 seizures. She is two weeks in to her new med dosage, and had been 10 weeks and 2 days seizure free, is a great sign and I kinda feel like it was my fault as I had forgotten to go to the feed store to get her some food, they don't open til 9am so she got her meds late by about 3 hours, I know this is not the reason but I just hate this disease, hate it.
So now we start the clock all over again, today is 4 days :D

Aawww - poor Penny Pooh, and poor Mom too. Seizures can be so frightening and stressful. I went thru them with one of my Lhasas, but she was 15 yrs old and a diabetic too, and there was really no way to get them under control. :(
Hopefully, this is just a little bump in the road for Penny. Sending good vibes and lots of prayers, that she will be able to get back on track again.
We sure do have a couple of problem children - don't we??? But they're worth their weight in gold, and we will do anything for them!!! ;)

Oh yes they are quite frightening but more so for me than her, lol. She always looks at me like why you bugging on me mom-lady. :p
And I am hoping for a much longer streak this time, I know we will achieve it, Penny says thank you for the vibes, she really appreciates it
And I was thinking the same thing when I saw Myndi's thread, i do hope she is feeling better, but I would do anything for my Pooh Bear as I know you would as well. I love her dearly. Hugs to you and the fur kids.
