ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation of Mobile, Alabama) pulled a female dalmatian from the pound the day she was to be put to sleep, this past Friday. She's about 5 yrs young, according to the vet, and her name is Dominique. She has been severly neglected and is very malnoursished as you can tell in the picture. She has hookworms (being treated) and heartworms. We are working now to raise $300 for her heartworm treatment. Donations are always welcome, if you would like to sponsor this spotted baby. Despite her rough start in life, she is very loving and she would love to make someone happy. She desperately needs a new forever home, or even a foster home until her permanent home can be found.
If any of you know someone in your family, or maybe a friend, that would like to give this young lady a chance, please let me know. She is being boarded at a vet in Mobile now for 2 weeks, but after that her future is uncertain.
Please let me know if you would like to see pictures or want more information. Her petfinder link is here. (http://web2.petfinder.org/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=1159804&adTarget=468petsgeneral&SessionID=3db47bc61b0eaf37&display=&preview=1&row=0)
Here is her picture.

I sure wish we could get her here after she finished the heartworm treatment (because with 17 others, there is NO quiet place in our house so she would get the rest she needed). Keep us informed and let us know how the fundraising goes. If Mike and I can scrape together some money where would we send it?

Amber,
We have a foster great dane right now ( My First Foster (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15057) ). He will hopefully go to his forever home on next Monday (10/28).
If she is still in need of a foster home then and has no other place to go, I could possibly convince Lynn to take another foster that soon, that is as long as we don't have another dane to take. :)

Scott,
Good to hear from you!!!
This girl really needs a spot to rest during her hw treatment. I don 't want to put you or Lynne out. It's strictly up to you both if you want to take in another foster. But we should probably wait until she is done with HW xment.
She may have a place to go in VA, but hw xment is b/t $400-700 there. It wouldn't be feasible to not do it down here for $175, it's just getting up the money to do it.
I really need to find her a foster home down here, but that will probably never happen. There are none down here, so that kinda leaves me in a bind.
Any ideas?

Amber,
I haven't brought the subject up with Lynn yet, I will try to "butter her up" and ask tomorrow. :)

Good news guys
(Cottoncandy, of course you can put her on your site. Can I have the link?)
Dom is going to RockySpot Dalmatian Rescue in OK in 2 weeks!! She really lucked up, as this is a great rescue. We are now working on getting her there. I've posted a transport request on the rescue list and the general list. Please let me know if you can help. We still need to raise money for her HW treatment. Anyone have any ideas?
THanks for all of your help and caring!!

Amber,
I am really glad she is going to a rescue group. Lynn said after Asgrim goes to his new home, we ready need to find a place for Livvy, our foster cat, and do some cleaning around the house.

Abby has now been with us for two years. She is beautiful, loving, smart, and very loved. I want to thank everyone that was concerned about her and wanted to help her...without all of you, we would not have our "Princess Polka Dots" to love and adore!
Abby has come such a long way in the last two years. I have attached a photo of her that was taken last summer. Hard to believe this is the same spotty girl, isn't it?
