They are chasing a ball with a bell inside it right now. Chip and Sunny made an escape and met Miss Angel nose to nose a while ago. She was so surprised! She didn't think to hiss until she saw me coming to get them. :D

Thanks for naming the orange boy kitten Sunny. This really means a lot to me in fact it brings a tear to my eyes.:)
Tangy is cute for the orange girl too. When I was at work I kept thinking that Peaches also sounded cute or even Summer.:)
I'm so glad to hear that people are finally willing to help transport 3 of the kittens. Hopefully they'll be able to be with Helene before the long 4th of July weekend. I love it when a plan comes together.:)

This sounds great and I sure hope that everything will work out and go smoothly.:) It's great that you're able to adopt all 3 of them. At first I thought that you were going to try to find forever homes for the orangies in Texas. Let us know when the transport will be taking place.:)

I love all the kits names too. In fact, I caught myself this morning saying, Good Morning sunshine, to Sunny. So he sort of knows his name already. I have told them all their names. I swear they are all smiling at me!!!
I caught Tangy looking out the kitchen window today. She said she was trying to see Texas. I told her she was looking in the wrong direction. She needs to look South, not west. :D Miss Carmela has known her name all along. She has been a bit chatty the last couple of days. Of course, I talk back to her. ;)

It's great that they all have names now.:) I know that my Sunny loved his name. I adopted him when he was 8 months old and he didn't even have a name before then. I thought how sad.:( I actually picked out the name Sunny before I even met him because I was looking for a male orangie and this was going to be my new cats name.:)

Yep, I told my family long ago that every family needs at least one member who talks to cats and takes care of them. I volunteered and got the job!!! ;)
Just was giving all the kits a snack and Sunny got out of the kitchen and into the living room where the 'big kits' are. He ran up and kissed Grandma on the nose. :D I swear she looked like 'here we go again'. She didn't even hiss at him.

Wow, word gets around for these single mothers. They know where the safe house is.
I totally understand that you cannot take anymore. Do you have any neighbors willing to help out with this one? I'm just concerned about that dog that got Lilac coming back around. Does she have only the three you can see in the pictures?
Oh my goodness! I know there are several of us on here that wished we lived closer so we could help. All I can do is wish you luck in what ever you decide. I just would not be able to look outside anymore.......EVER!

The kits looked like two meezers and an orangie to me too. She has moved them off my porch now. We have a thunderstorm fixing to move in. I'm wondering if they are under the porch. But I'm not going to go look. No! I am not!!! Really!!!
The mom looks a lot like Angel. I saw her walking across a yard the other day and thought Angel got outside until I say her tail. It is white on the end of it. Plus Angel's tail is crooked. The mom wouldn't come near me so she may be ferel. Probably tossed out by someone when she got pregnant. :(

Makes me wonder about interbreeding...Angel and that momcat could have had the same dad!
I wonder if you or Helene could contact Friends of Felines and see if they can help.

MOFF, you know that this Tortie mother will just get pregnant again.:( If any of the kittens are female then they'll also get pregnant and the cycle will just continue.:( Are there any TNR programs any where in Kansas?
Here's a link about a TNR Program in Kansas:http://www.nmhpkc.org/index.php?PAGE_ID=1. I don't know how far away some of these places are to you though.

That is in Kansas City, 90 miles away. :( We have no TNR program near hear that I know.
I know the poor momma cat will just get pregnant again but I can't do anything about it. I do wish I knew he tossed her out pregnant. I could give them a swift kick in the bum. I know I am assuming that someone did that but there is a high record of that happening in this town. :(

finished reading a story in the paper about a local shelter being full to the

I know. If I was younger and healthy and working and still driving, it would be different. Until people start taking responsibility for getting their pets spayed and neutered, this will continue to be a problem.
Around here, some people think of animals as throw away pets. Keep them until you don't want them then toss them out the door. I lived by two families like that before I moved here and at least one family since moving here aka Winnie's former owners. :(
The lady that used to help feed Winnie has moved so I'm pretty much the only one in the neighborhood who would even consider feeding strays. I really can't keep doing that either. I have enough cats of my own and can't incourage more strays to hang around. It's not safe for them and it's too heartbreaking for me.
I can't keep taking cats in when I can't take care of them. :(

With her contacts at Friends for Felines (sp?) I am sure she can get help for this latest batch. Maybe FFF can designate your house as a "high traffic area" - hopefully you can have someone to contact as this keeps happening.

High traffic area indeed!!! The kits were back on the porch this morning. There are 4 of them. The orangie, two meezer-like ones, and a little blackie.
The mom was there too. I got a good look at her when I took some trash out. I'm wondering if she my be one of the kits from Winnie's first litter. She has the same exact white front toes and stockings as Winnie and Angel.
The lady that used to live on the other side of Winnie's first house, told me that Winnie had had a litter before Angels litter. The kids were trying to give her the kittens. It's very possible someone in the neighborhood took one and booted it out when it got old enough to be a mom.
The mom won't come near me. The kits won't either for that matter. It took me years to get Lilac tame enough so I could pet her. I confess to putting out some water and a bit of dry food for the mom. I just can't let her go hungry when she has a tiny family to feed.
Meanwhile, the kits indoors were having a blast this morning, cleaning off shelves and my table in the kitchen. When I would bend over to pick something up, they would get on my back and walk around. They sure sounded like a demolition crew in there. They are finally napping. Good thing, I'm exhausted!!!!:D

You should have been here this morning. The big and little kits all insisted on meeting each other. When I opened the kitchen door to the front room, all 5 kits zoomed out. They met Winnie and Angel in the middle room, then Chester and Grandma in the front room.
They got on surprisingly well. Angel discovered the kits are fun. They are like toys with legs that run. Winnie did a few head bonks but it was just to let them know she would be the boss of them. No claws extened or even hisses from her. Chester only hissed when he caught me watching him sniffing a kit or two. Grandma just watched all the madness.
It was fun trying to round them all up and put them back into the kitchen after a while. Angel finally helped me by keeping them distracted so I could sneak up on them and pick them up and stuff them back through the door.
Chip was in kit heaven. He found the big kids 'toy' box. I managed to grab him when was trying to haul a toy that was as big as he was into another room. :D

Oh, I'll still have two plus my big babies, Winnie and Angel to keep life interesting. Not to mention, Chester who acts like a big baby at times. :D
I will have to learn how to walk again though. I've leared how to walk not lifting my feet; just sort of shuffling along. It's hard to walk with kits trying to sit on my feet all the time. Got to watch out for those tiny toes and tails after all. ;)
Husky's mom, I wish there were tons of you all here too. It takes that many to keep this lot in line.
OMG! There is another new kitten on my back porch!!! It's about twice as big as my indoor kits. It's looking around and meowing its head off. It's got white legs and sort of a gray stripping on it's back. Never seen this one before. I'm hoping it belongs to one of the kids in the neighborhood and it finds it's way home. It's way to big to belong to that other cat momma out there.:(

Ok, now I have a kitty conga line going in the kitchen!!! Lead by miss Carmela herself of course!
Helene I sent you a PM back. I was at the vets with chip and chuck. It was time for chips follow up visit and his first shots so I tucked chuck in too. They are good to go until next mo now when they will get the rest of their shots and maybe neutering at the same time. I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet though. ;) They're just babies.
I was waiting on taking your babies until I could see if we could get them to you. I know you want them to see your vet.

 Yes Connie I got your PM & replied.. Oh yes this will all take place very fast once we get everyone's date & time noted.. Oh I was like in Tears last night when Carmen called me & said she would go to Connie's & then to Debbie's.. She & Deb have both said NO money.. We are all doing this for the babies & for Connie.. Now the babies will prob have to spend one night at Deb's & then do the last trip to Sherman & then Me with them home.. It will be too trying on them to do all in one day.. We will have to see.. ** Now Connie you dont need to do anything but have the babies in the carrier.. I dont know if Carmen will be bringing one or not..** Now when Deb brings them to Sherman which is long trip & I will meet her in Sherman & will have a bigg condo set up in my SUV for the babies.. It will have a mini litter box with small amount of food & water & bed.. I have done this set up with several transports & works out great.. The condo is really a 50 Lb size dog carrier.. Hey its bigg enough & works purrfect.. Oh I just cant wait.. Yes Tracey the transports will go fast once we get all of the times & dates noted.. For sure the babies will be with me before July 4th.. No firecrackers for these wittle ones.. All paws crossed..

this is completely off topic but was just reading on cat genetics.. and thought of your babies..
Angelīs dad.. surely was an orangie and probably the dad of the new "batch" too..
male cats need one orange gene to be orange
female cats need two orange genes to be orange, if they only get one then they are torties..
Winnie + orange dad = tortie female Angel
tortie Lilac + orange dad = tortie female Carmela, blackie boys Chuck and Chip, orange maleSunny, and you could possibly get orangie girl Tangy too.. as she could have got orange from mom AND dad...
then the newest crew
tortie momma + ?= orange male, black? and siamese?
lol.. just wanted to share as I found it interesting ;)

Yep, Angel's dad was probably an orangie. Winnie and an orangie had an, um love affair right on my back porch in spite of my best efforts to chase them off at the time. :D
Lilac's babies, probably the same orangie. I saw one escorting Lilac for a couple of weeks before she died. It looked like the same one Winnie had her fling with. One odd thing, during the time I was sitting out side with Lilacs babies trying to get them tamed down, that orangie came and watched me from the lilac bush every evening. Like he was watching over the babies. One evening I held up one of the orangies and told him I was taking care of the babies. Then I moved them into the shed. He hasn't been seen around here since then. It was like he was watching over them until I could do it.
That would mean Lilac and Chip, Chuck and the others are half siblings!!! It's all in the family, I guess.

I'm so happy to hear that a date has now been set for transport and I'd like to thank everyone involved.:) Now hopefully the weather will cooperate and it won't be too hot or rainy. I also hope that everything will go well. I'm sending some positive vibes to everyone involved.
It's interesting to know that the kittens are probably related to both Winnie and Angel. This shows how quickly cats can reproduce. When Carmen comes to get the 3 kittens, maybe Connie can ask her if she knows anyone who can help her with all of the other cats and kittens around her home. Maybe Friends Of Felines will be able to help. It wouldn't hurt to ask. If the cycle isn't broken then there will always be new homeless kittens being born.:(

I think I found the sourse of the kitty leak I've been having lately and I'm so mad I can hardly see straight. Seems the lady (and I use the term very very loosly) who tossed pregnant Winnie out and left two dogs locked in an abandoned house in 90+ degree heat with no food or water for 3 weeks, is back in the neighborhood. She's not only back, she lives in the house one over from me. I am as sure as I'm sitting here, that is where the new momma cat came from. They also have another dog, a big big dog.
So, it will be a never ending thing for me if I keep helping kitties. She will keep getting them and tossing them out because she knows I'll feed them. I can't and won't cover her bum any more. I hate it for the animals sakes but I can't do anything about it. Our city didn't even charge her with cruelty to animals for what she did to the dogs.
On a happy note: all is set for GO on the kitty transport tomorrow. The kits are really excited!!! It will be a big adventure for them. I'll let you know when they are on the road.:D

During my work day I often peak in on this thread for a minute or two to read the last postings.
You know, I've always loved PT and I wish I could post more often. When it comes to threads such as this I can't help but cry happy tears.
I've seen the love and prayers of this community pay off time and time again.
MOFF: I know you will miss the little monkeys but we can see their progress over the years. Many blessings to you for taking in these sweet babies and showing them what the love of a human feels like. I know that Lilac had alot to do with this. Your heart is bigger than mine will every be.
LV, Melissa and others: My heart gets that warm fuzzy feeling when I see what we can do if we put our minds to it. Sending out prayers and love to you too.
Big hugs to all

Helene I keep forgetting to tell you my vet put their birthday at 04/14/10. They are a little over 9 weeks old. Probably weigh a little over 2 pounds. Chip weighed 2.4 and Chuck 2.3 at the vets the other day. They all look close to the same size.
I'm so thrilled you will get them while they are still babies. Now you can have some of the baby fun. I was beginning to think they would be senior citizens before they met you. :D

I have a question, and it's okay if I don't get an answer. But, I see the vet put their birthday at 4/14/10 and they weigh over two pounds. My Jax's birthday was estimated to be 4/5/10 and he weighed in at 1.6 pounds at the vet on Tuesday. Is Jax just small for his age? Or are these babies big? I know they look at teeth to determine age, but a whole pound difference when they are 10 days apart (approx.) in age.

Cindy, it could be a little of both.:) I'm surprised to hear that your Jax is still only 1.6lbs. He's already neutered right? I always thought that a kitten had to weigh at least 2lbs before they could be spayed or neutered.

I sort of think my kits may be a week older but it's just an estimate. Maybe mine are just plump. Chip gained .4 pound in 7 days. I think she estimated on the low side because they have to be a certain age for some of the shots. She didn't want to give the shots too soon.
krazyaboutkatz, I was wondering if that was the dog too. It is one huge sucker!

This is what I thought too. One of his sisters was not spayed yet. She had to stay there after she was adopted to be spayed. And she was the smallest of all four of them. He is neutered though. I had the vet check. She was very surprised it was all healed up so nicely too. One thing I didn't ask was what age she would have put him at. I will ask that when we go back on the 29th.
I hope all is well with this transport. I'm sure she'll call you soon. Or maybe she forgot and will just surprise you and show up.

The kittens are gorgeous and I am so glad you and lvpets2002 and all the people doing transport were able to help.. I am sure the kittens will be forever thankful to everyone
I love them all... but those photos of Chuck... I just want to hug him :love: Please pass on hugs to all your crew from me :D

Chip and Chuck sure are cutie pies.:) I bet they love having the run of the house now. I can relate to your window blinds because my Pearly girl did a number on them. I got rid of them and now have shades instead which I'll replace again because I just don't like them as well and my cats have now torn these up. I'm thinking of getting the faux wood blinds instead or something that's more cat proof if there is such a thing.:)

If you find some cat proof ones, let me know!!! ;)
I can't help wonder how our three travelers are doing at Debbie's house. Or more like, how she is doing with them. :D I do hope they aren't too ornery.

I'm so happy to hear that the kittens are on their way to a Pet Talk home this weekend.
You have done a wonderful job taking care of these babies and your Winnie and Angel too.:)

Oh, My Goodness!!! Those poor little ones must hate me for sending them off to be tortured like that. ;) Well, I'm sure they think of it that way. We all know it's best that gets done and over with.
Hopefully, they will fall head over heels for you for going to their 'rescue". :D
At least they should be a bit calmer than they would have been other wise. I have been having nightmares of them destroying Debbies home and yours too right off the bat. :D :love:
Thank you Catty1 for the chuckle. That pic does remind me on my wild ones. :D

Ok, I give in!!! I will put it in an emergency fund for the kits. And IF I can get that mommy cat outside tame enough to grab and take to the vet, I will use some to get her spayed. It will have to be a catch and release sort of thing because I can't take any more in the house. This little 4 room house is full!
Maybe any girl babies she has too. Sadly, one of the meezer like ones has disappeared. It was the biggest one. I have not found any little kit body and am hoping it followed another cat off or was picked up by one of the kids in the neighborhood. It should be plenty old enough to survive with out its mommy.
I thank you all so very very much too and I know all the kits do.

Helene, thanks for the update on the 3 kittens. That's wonderful that they were able to all be spayed and neutered and given their first shots.:) That'll be a load off of your mind now so you can just sit back and enjoy them. I hope that everything will go well on Monday. Please keep us updated.:)
I agree that MOFF should keep whatever donations have been sent to her.:) She's cared for these kittens for weeks now and there are so many other homeless cats/kittens that keep on visiting her front porch. Hopefully MOFF will be able to at least do some TNR work on some of them. MOFF maybe you sbould invest in one of those cat traps.

lvpets just called me. She and the babies just got home and were unwinding a bit. I could hear them playing in the background. They are all doing well. :D
You all helped save two more lives by doing this. When lvpets met with Debbie at the Walmart parking lot, they saw a man dumping two kittens in the parking lot.
lvpets put our 3 kits in her carrier and Debbie was able to use the carrier I sent the kits in, to put the two dumped babies in. She took them back to the center with her. If the timing and things hadn't worked out just like it did, who knows what would have happened to those two new abandoned kits. Debbie will find homes for those two.
lvpets wil post tomorrow or when she can. We both thank you all so very much for caring for us and these little ones and for all your help and prayers.
Thinking of what you did, makes me tear up. Bless you all.:love::love:

Oh so happy to hear they have arrived safe and sound!! How lucky for the other kittens dropped off at Wal-Mart! What a low-life coward to dump them like that. I will never ever understand how anyone could be so cold hearted. Thank you for all you have done for the little ones! It's a lot of work but so very rewarding, too. Pet talkers rock!!

 Hello Gang = As Connie stated I called yesterday evening as we just got home.. I wanted Connie to know first that we made it home ok.. I wanted her to hear the babies playing.. The babies had been on the road for 6 hours yesterday = so by the time we got home they was like wide awake & Full of Energy.. They played & played.. I gave them a can of wet food that Connie sent in the Care Bag && they finally ate & went night night.. But this morning they got their energy back.. They are so Precious & Adorable..
Yes Debbie & I could not even think straight watching this man fixing to dump those other two kittens.. I thought Debbie was going to explode.. I got Connie's carrier opened while Debbie was running back with the kittens.. I already had my Adorable 3 babies loaded in my SUV.. Well Debbie took those 2 babies with her.. I think it will be no problem for her to get them adopted out..
Ok I am fixing to do a New Intro Thread of Pics of the Babies in their new furrever home now.. Yup they Texans now.. Come Over & See See..
Again Thanks to All for the Loving Support Here..
